Their attack on Krimisa was a premeditated independent action of these mercenaries.
Although Theonia is seemingly unrelated, the strategoi of Crotone and its statesmen thought that they had found the best excuse. Unless Crotone is willing to maintain peace with Theonia for a long time, they are undoubtedly a great threat to Crotone to allow them to develop.
