Chapter 402: The Trick to Change Her Mind (2)
There was not the slightest bit of warmth or expression on Gu Yu’s handsome face. His black pupils looked visibly gloomy as he swept a cold glance at Xu Shuai. Without hesitation, he said icily, “I have nothing to do with her!”
Xu Shuai felt a chill run down his spine. Not wanting to incur Gu Yu’s wrath, he indicated that he would zip his mouth shut.
“Since Gu Yu is unwilling to talk about Yun Rou, I shall not ruffle his feathers so as to spare myself from the agony of antagonizing him,” Xu Shuai thought.
Initially, he thought that Gu Yu might as well agree to the divorce if he still had a chance with Yun Rou, for nobody would have to be conflicted about the situation then. But now, it seemed like Xu Weilai was the one who held the special place in Gu Yu’s heart.
Xu Shuai felt that it was a blessing for them to be brothers in this lifetime and thus, felt obligated to help Gu Yu to think of a solution.
Xu Shuai took another sip of beer and scratched his head as he carefully combed through everything that had happened during this period of time. Suddenly, an idea flashed across his mind.
“Yu, our train of thought might have been wrong!”
Gu Yu leaned back into the sofa wearily and looked up at Xu Shuai lazily from the corner of his eyes. “Speak!” he ordered concisely.
Xu Shuai slammed the empty beer bottle down on the coffee table and turned to look at him before he began to analyze seriously, “When a woman says that she wants to break up with you, she might not necessarily mean it. Most of the time, she’s just putting up an act. She simply wants men to coax and win her back. Based on the same logic, a woman might not actually mean it when she asks for a divorce! ”
“All couples will quarrel at some point in time, regardless of whether they’re dating or married. It’s easy for one to initiate a divorce or break up during a quarrel. Take my mom for example. She would get into minor disagreements and serious arguments with pops every other day. Each time, she would repeatedly threaten to divorce him, but when did she ever act on her words? She merely wants him to coax her.”
The gloomy look in Gu Yu’s eyes was replaced with a glimmer of hope.
“But… This time, since Xu Weilai brought out the divorce agreement and even has the intention to return the one billion yuan to you to show that she wants nothing to do with you, I’m afraid it won’t be easy to win her back through coaxing. If you’re really certain that you want to continue to be with her, the only way is to do something that will tempt her into changing her mind!”
Gu Yu’s gaze finally landed on Xu Shuai. “Go on,” he said.
“Yu, you’re lucky to be able to enlist the help of a smart person like me, without having to beg me for help repeatedly. I learnt this from my mother and could teach you.”
Xu Shuai’s lips curled into a smile as he emphasized each word carefully, “If I’m not wrong, it’ll be your father’s birthday soon, isn’t it? You could…”

Xu Weilai returned to the apartment and ate a simple meal. After she showered and completed her skincare routine, leaned against the headboard of her bed and scrolled through her phone while she waited for Gu Yu to return home.
She would have to wait for him to come home no matter what so that she could ask him about Yun Rou.
Thankfully, she had slept in Gu Yu’s office for the whole afternoon and thus, she was very energetic now and would not feel sleepy no matter how late she had to stay up.
News about Yun Rou had been dominating the front page headlines recently. These include news about how she stood out among the crowd at a party, about her participation in a charity event and about how she had been coined as a beautiful and kind-hearted Piano Princess. All contributed to her rise in fame and popularity and helped her gain numerous fans, all of whom were full of praise for her.
Xu Weilai could not be bothered to read her news anymore, for her eyes had begun to hurt. She went into a video streaming platform and tapped into a funny variety show. But just when she was about to watch it, heard the sound of the door opening.
Her eyes lit up. “Is Gu Yu home?” she wondered.
