Chapter 107: Emotional Appeal
Long Shuhai appeared as though he was deeply filled with regret. “This was all my fault. I shouldn’t have let you suffer so much. Xinxin, please help us beg CEO Bai!”
Fang Xinxin actually turned to look at Bai Qinghao. “You can’t kill them.”
If Bai Qinghao did so, she was worried their deaths would sully his hands.
Killing his wife’s family would cause bad rumours to circulate around him. She could not allow him to endure it for her sake.
Furthermore, her elder brother, Fang Shaohua, who genuinely doted on her, was still in jail. This matter was definitely related to the Fang family.
If they died, who would help her overturn her brother’s case?
Bai Qinghao’s gaze was filled with rage. He seemed to be contemplating the best method to deal with the Fang family.
Fang Lilan immediately sobbed and appealed to Fang Xinxin. “My daughter, look, mom’s hand is still bandaged. It really hurts.”
Fang Manxue also hid behind Fang Xinxin in acute fear. She wanted to change the topic and hopefully get through this.
Thus, she said, “Oh yes, mom, didn’t CEO Bai ‘reward’ you with a bottle of red wine? You haven’t explained it to us till now. Why is your head fine, but your hand got injured?”
Fang Lilan understood Fang Manxue’s intentions and immediately explained. “When CEO Bai’s bodyguard smashed that bottle on me, I blocked my head with my left hand. My head is fine but my left hand was fractured. I had to go to the hospital to have it bandaged. There was no need for hospitalisation. I can recover after some rest, so I came home.”
Fang Xinxin did not pay much attention to Fang Lilan’s condition. It was unimportant to her. In any case, she would still have to suffer, irrespective of the hand injury.
Long Shuhai also joined the conversation. “Earlier, I was headed to the hospital to visit your mother. I never expected to bump into her at the entrance.”
Back at the Yue Ya Cafe, how could Bai Qinghao not have known that Fang Lilan had blocked the wine bottle with her hand? But he didn’t care about this small matter.
“Thank god your head is uninjured.” Fang Manxue patted her chest as though she was frightened. “Mom, I was so worried about you.”
Fang Xinxin smiled coldly. She obstructed their plans and brought the conversation back to the topic at hand. “Second sister, you didn’t even make the effort to visit mom at the hospital, yet you have the heart to perform this act for me now?”
“Second sister is to blame for all of this.” Fang Manxue detested Fang Xinxin for bringing the topic back up again. She had no other options and could only force herself to cry. “Third sister, we have the same blood running in our veins. You can’t watch your sister come to harm.”
Her tears always had the effect of softening a man’s heart. Whenever she cried in front of the men who were pursuing her, their hearts would ache terribly.
She had thought Bai Qinghao’s heart would move for her. To her surprise, his expression remained impassive. He did not appear to be even slightly interested in her.
Fang Lilan added to the emotional appeal as well. “Xinxin ah, mom needs to rest for sometime for her left hand to recover. You can’t allow me to suffer anymore.”
“Second uncle is also old. I can’t endure this sort of suffering.” Long Shuhai spoke in pain. “Xinxin, please beg CEO Bai on our behalf.”
Fang Xinxin nodded obediently. “Bai Qinghao, you heard them. Each of my family members have their own difficulties. You shouldn’t let them suffer anymore physical pain.”
The chauffeur, Li Bingpan, and the bodyguards by the side found this difficult to watch.
They lamented in their hearts about Fang Xinxin being so dumb! The Fang family had bullied her to this extent. Their boss wanted to stand up for her, yet she wouldn’t allow him.
They really couldn’t support her even if they wanted to!
