Chapter 494: Fang Manxue’s Clarification

She composed herself and put on a brilliant smile. “Third Sister, we’re a family. There’s no need to be so calculative.”
“I’m afraid that you and I don’t belong to the same family.” Fang Xinxin left these ambiguous words behind and turned to leave.
A crowd of students gathered around Fang Manxue to ask her. “What did your third sister mean by that? Could it be that she’s not your mom’s actual daughter?”
“How could that be?” Fang Manxue’s smile was stiff. “Xinxin is just angry at our mom for almost causing her to be misunderstood as unfilial. She’s simply throwing a tantrum.”
“But I heard that Bai Qinghao has already ceased all financial support to the Fang Group. He even declared that there’s no need for anyone to give him face and to take care of the Fang family when it comes to business.” One of the students spoke up in disbelief. “This can’t be as simple as a tantrum, right?”
“No matter what, Fang Xinxin has already done a DNA test with our mom. My mother is also Fang Xinxin’s mother. This is a proven fact.” Fang Manxue glanced at the students around her. “I’m warning all of you. Don’t spread rumours around carelessly.”
“Tsk!” Everyone shot her looks of disdain.
A female student spoke up unhappily. “Who do you think you’re warning? Do you still think that you’re that outstanding Goddess Manxue? We used to call you a ‘Goddess’ because you fooled us into believing that you’re Bai Qinghao’s fiancée. You worthless liar! Now that we know that Bai Qinghao isn’t on your side, do you still believe that you’re of any value?”
“Isn’t it! Your mouth is so despicable. Did you forget the beating you received at ‘Warming Jing Hua University With Love’?” Someone rolled their sleeves up and shifted as though they were moving to hit her. “Do you need me to help you remember?”
Fang Manxue was terrified of angering the masses. She rushed to apologise. “Please don’t be angry, everyone. This was all my fault. I have an urgent matter to attend to. I’ll take my leave first…”
She then rushed to follow Fang Xinxin.
When she saw Liu Li standing guard at Fang Xinxin’s side, a hint of frustration flashed past her eyes.
It seemed like Bai Qinghao had even arranged a bodyguard for Fang Xinxin.
In that case, how was she supposed to ‘tamper’ with Fang Xinxin’s medicine? Wasn’t this much harder than she had expected?
She needed to come up with a method to make Liu Li leave.
She jogged forward to walk by Fang Xinxin’s side. “Third Sister, why did you leave so quickly?”
Fang Xinxin paid no attention to her. Manxue maintained her smile and shot Liu Li a glance.
She then whispered. “Isn’t he the bodyguard that Bai Qinghao usually keeps by his side? Why is he here in school with you? Do you know what I heard the other students discussing earlier?”
“I’m not interested.”
“You should be, Third Sister.” Fang Manxue spoke as though she had good intentions. “The other students are saying that Bai Qinghao doesn’t believe in you, that he is afraid you’ll cheat on him. That’s why he intentionally arranged for someone to watch you.”
If this had been in the past, Fang Xinxin would definitely have ordered Liu Li to scram.
To Fang Manxue’s surprise, Fang Xinxin stopped walking and turned to narrow her eyes at her. “Second Sister, are you trying to be funny? Didn’t Jiang Xingnan, that bastard, say that my appearance is poor to the point where even a ghost wouldn’t take a liking to me. How could Bai Qinghao be afraid that I’ll cheat on him?”
Fang Manxue’s expression was insincere. “Don’t be so self-deprecating…”
“Self-deprecating?” Fang Xinxin smirked mockingly. “Previously, didn’t you tell me that I needed to be aware of how ugly I am?”
“You also have your own strong points. Besides, you’re no longer fat.”
“Stay further away from me.” Fang Xinxin suddenly turned in a different direction and walked away.
But Fang Manxue rushed to follow after her.
Fang Xinxin saw that Ya Lun was about to head into the school building.
She rushed to catch up to him, whilst instructing the man beside her. “Liu Li, stop Fang Manxue from following after me.”
