Chapter 54: Eight Million Is Equal To Eighty Cents
Fang Xinxin had refused to accept his money. Could it be that, she was still thinking of Bai Chenxi?
He hung up the call with a frigid expression and walked up to the main bedroom.
Fang Xinxin sat on the couch as she scrolled through the latest news on the stock market. All of a sudden, she felt an icy gaze directed at her. She could not help but tremble.
She glanced up to see that Bai Qinghao was standing at the door with a dark expression.
She tried her best to stop herself from responding to his intimidating aura with fear. She pursed her lips and asked him. “Bai Qinghao, do you need something?”
He stared at her sternly without saying anything. His gaze pierced through her like an X-ray, giving her the false illusion that he was seeing right through her.
Fang Xinxin was nearly frightened to death. She recalled their previous life when he had protected her right up to her final moments despite her pitiful state.
The fear faded away slowly and she was able to speak normally. “You must have seen the surveillance records from the hospital. I really didn’t go to the hospital to pick Bai Chenxi up. I only went to his room to see you.”
“I believe in you,” he responded coldly.
“Then…” She really could not figure out why he was still upset.
“Why won’t you accept my money?” His expression was dark.
She chuckled lightly. “So that’s why you’re angry.” She held her cheek as she stared at him. “You sure are interesting. I helped you save eight million dollars. Why are you angry?”
“To me, eight million dollars is no different from a normal person’s eighty cents.”
“Oh…” She chuckled mischievously. “So you only gave me eighty cents?”
“How much do you want?” Bai Qinghao was expressionless. He appeared as though he was emotionless.
But Fang Xinxin knew that, regardless of how much money she requested for, he would fulfil her demand without hesitation.
This man was even willing to hand his life over to her!
“I was just trying to tease you.” She smiled slightly.
“Although eight million is a small sum to you, it’s an extremely large amount for me. I want to become strong on my own. For the time being, I won’t accept your money.”
‘For the time being’ meant that she would accept it in the future. Bai Qinghao’s emotions were somewhat appeased. “You don’t have to be strong. I will protect you forever.”
She froze slightly.
He misunderstood her reaction and assumed that she disdained his protection. His gaze was infuriated. “What? Do you wish the man protecting you was Bai Chenxi?”
After saying this, he turned to leave.
Fang Xinxin rushed to his side and embraced him from behind. “Bai Qinghao, I hope that it will be you!”
The reason this man was prone to misunderstanding and becoming jealous so quickly was all because of her past mistakes…

She needed to gain… the trust they never had.
This was the first time she took the initiative to embrace him. Bai Qinghao’s tall and broad figure stiffened. “Fang Xinxin, remember the words you’ve said!”
“Relax. Even when I become old and senile, I won’t forget these words.” She nodded her head like an adorable little chick pecking at corn.
Bai Qinghao turned around. He lowered his chin and stared at her, whispering darkly in his heart. ‘You best keep me fooled for the rest of your life!’
He was about to return Fang Xinxin’s embrace when Liu Li approached them. He bowed respectfully. “Boss, there’s an urgent document waiting to be signed.”
Bai Qinghao stated at Liu Li unhappily.
Liu Li trembled as he endured the burning gaze. “It’s extremely urgent. The person who delivered the document is waiting in your study.”
Bai Qinghao stepped away reluctantly. He walked forward for a few steps before pausing. “You’re only nineteen this year. You’re not old at all.”
