Chapter 36: Allie’s Husband

As Olivia was deep in thought, a police officer interrupted her thoughts.
“You’ll record your statements separately. He came early in the morning and couldn’t come up with a reason even after talking for so long.”
Olivia and Tiffany were brought to different interrogation rooms respectively and questioned for a long time. There was not much discrepancy between their words. The hospital also had records, and the man’s answer was somewhat ambiguous.
The police soon found out what had happened. The hospital had been trying to get him to collect the corpse but to no avail. Thus, the hospital had stopped looking for him again. After he had found out that she had been buried, he wanted to use this opportunity to frame them for money.

Tiffany laughed coldly. “Oh, you know the law. I couldn’t tell. Then why did you break the law knowingly and report a fake case?”
The man was no longer as tough as before.
“It’s… Someone told me to do it. They said that if I succeeded, I’d get a huge sum of money.”
The man didn’t look like he was lying, which confused them. Who could it be?
“Do you know who that person is?”
The man shook his head. “I don’t know. They just called me. I thought that if it didn’t work out, I would be criticized and taught a lesson at most, so I wanted to give it a try. I didn’t expect it to not even work out.”
“Then why didn’t you come to bury Allie for so many days and let her stay in the morgue for so long? Do you have a conscience?” Olivia practically shouted these words out loud.
Allie could be considered as half a relative. How could he treat her like this?
“Burial? Where would I get money for the land? Where would I get money for the coffin? After she died, she left me this burden. I don’t have any money. How could I bury her?”
The man’s unreasonable behavior broadened Olivia’s horizons. It was said that only death would split a couple apart, yet this man had acted so indifferently. They were married, yet he still said that she was a burden.
“Where is your home?” asked Tiffany.
The man was a little surprised, but he was also satisfied that he didn’t have to walk by himself. He told her the address, and the car slowly drove into a seemingly backward area.
This was the first time that Olivia had come to such a place. She looked at the man sitting at the side and took out a bank card.
“There’s some money in here. Take it.”
The man was a little scared at first, but his greedy nature made him reach out and take the bank card. He grinned and nodded his head in thanks.
When they arrived at the man’s house, both Olivia and Tiffany looked glum. Was this not a garbage dump?
In the end, they endured their disgust and entered the house. A dirty little boy appeared. Olivia couldn’t take her eyes off him for a long time. In her previous life, Mia had probably been the same age as this little boy.

Olivia’s eyes widened in disbelief. She felt that she had misheard him.
Was this something a biological father could say? How old was this child? How could he expect a child to support him?
“Get this straight. This is your son. How can you treat him like this? How can you let Allie down?”
The man didn’t seem to feel guilty at all. He treated Olivia’s words as if she was mute with an unrepentant expression. He then threw out a small bowl, but the boy was sprawled on the ground like a madman.
The man took out some steamed buns with moldy spots and threw them into the bowl. The boy wolfed them down and stuffed them into his mouth. The man looked at his dog-like son with no pity in his eyes.
“Did you hear that? She doesn’t want you, so you can only remain as a beggar. If you don’t get enough money tonight, don’t come back. If you dare to come back, I’ll break your legs, got it?”
The boy nodded.
Olivia couldn’t bear to watch any longer and wanted to throw away the steamed bun in the boy’s hand. However, the boy protected the steamed buns as if he was protecting something, and his eyes were somewhat fierce.
Olivia’s heart was in so much pain that tears welled up in her eyes.
Tiffany did not expect that there would be such a shameless person. Her face immediately turned cold.
“You know the law so well. Don’t tell me you don’t know that it’s illegal to abuse children like this?”
The man looked nonchalant. “Go ahead and sue me. He’s my son. I can treat him however I want. Why do you care?”
The man was about to turn around and leave when he remembered that the two other ladies were still in the room. “I’m going out to drink now. If you don’t want to leave, you can stay here. If I lose anything, I’ll call the police.” His tone was full of threat.
Olivia couldn’t help but feel that it was a bit funny.
How dilapidated was this house? What could they possibly steal? This was truly the first person in history to treat trash like treasures.
“Wait. I think we can talk terms.”
The man was a little curious. What did Olivia want to say?
“If you have something to say, say it quickly. Don’t waste my time.”
“If that’s the case, why don’t you sell me his custody instead of him being a burden? That way, not only will he not be a burden, but you’ll also make a fortune. What do you think?”
