“We were not overly calculative regarding Qin Xiruo’s matter as we did not wish to destroy the harmony between the two families. Qin Yumei and Ling Xiaoting were never two willing parties in the first place, and thus rejecting the marriage could be considered normal. However, the Qin family used this an excuse and have been unrelenting,” said the first elder, rage appearing on his face.
“After that, they changed and instantly created a marital alliance with the Luo family. Second brother was hurt during a sneak attack when he left one night to provide treatment. I think it was arranged by either the Qin family or the Luo family.”
“How are the second elder’s injuries?” asked Ling Chuxi somewhat anxiously.
The first elder went silent, making her even more anxious.

Ling Chuxi could not bear to continue listening to their conversation. She abruptly pushed the doors wide open and rushed inside.
The house was filled with a faint bloody stench. The second elder was half lying on the bed. His face was incomparably pale, as if he had aged more than ten years. Seeing Ling Chuxi suddenly entering, the second elder was stunned.
