Chapter 640: Seems Like A Familiar Person
Ling Chuxi gritted her teeth and began walking over in the direction of Nan Xia Country. She did not go and look for Huangfu Qingjue because she was unwilling to become his burden and unwilling for him to take any more risks for her. She also believed that with Huangfu Qingjue’s cultivation, he should have no problems protecting himself. After all, he was a descendant of the Huangfu family.
Certain about not wanting to become Huangfu Qingjue’s burden, Ling Chuxi’s target moving forward became even clearer. She went forward, her footsteps unprecedentedly firm.
“Sword spirit, are you still around?” Ling Chuxi called out to the sword spirit in her mind as she walked.
Without the slightest response and with even the blood-connected connection in her mind with the sword spirit completely cut off, the sword spirit had totally fallen into a deep sleep. Ling Chuxi gently let out a sigh. It seemed like she could only wait for the Cang Yuan sword spirit to wake up on its own.
After walking some distance, Ling Chuxi could hear a wave of fighting sounds that were carried over by the wind. With a muffled rumble, fallen snow flew towards the sky a distance away, scattering in the wind to look like mist.
“Who is it?” gasped Ling Chuxi as she looked at the mist of snow up ahead in surprise. Very quickly another muffled sound of palms meeting in combat were heard.
From the force it generated, there seemed to be an exchange of blows between experts in the realm of True Essence up ahead. However, Ling Chuxi could sense that their True Qi was not very strong. It could be reckoned that the expert who had just made a move was either weak or wounded.
“Could it be Mister Mo?” Even across all the various countries in the mainland, there were not many experts who could reach the realm of True Essence, and the first one Ling Chuxi thought of was Mo Kongyuan. With this thought, Ling Chuxi’s heart clenched and she immediately lightened her footsteps and quietly approached the place where the battle was taking place.
“You old venomous thing. And to think that you are someone of a sect, yet you’ve actually used such despicable, shameless underhanded means,” rang out Xie Wuji’s old but powerful voice loudly.
“Hmph, what are you calling shameless and despicable? Why aren’t you pointing out the fact that the four of you guardians ganging up on me is despicable and shameless? What a fair fight it is to expect that with my abilities alone, I can fight against four great guardians. What a hero you are to actually say that I am despicable and shameless!” retorted another voice in disdain.
Why did this voice sound so familiar? Ling Chuxi’s mind turned. Could it be him? But why would he be here and exchanging blows with Xie Wuji and the rest of the guardians?
“Ptui! Aren’t you also from a sect? How can you even say such shameless words? If it were not for you setting a trap for us by using poison first, any one of the four of us could have easily squashed you to death casually. And to think that you even have the face to say that this is a ‘four against one’ fight?” cursed Xie Wuji, his tone containing an unspeakable anger.
“You old thing that won’t die. What is it to you that I used poison? If you have the capability to do the same, then you should. You call yourself a guardian? You can’t even defend yourself against this bit of poison and you even have the cheek to make a fuss about it. If you dare call out more complaints, I will poison you to death,” said the arrogant voice loudly in ridicule once again.
“You’re shameless! Wait till I slap you to death!” Xie Wuji was so angry that he was yelling.
Shortly after that, muffled sounds of palms colliding rang out once again. And from the sounds of it, neither party managed to gain an advantage.
Ling Chuxi hid behind a snow pile and continued watching. All she could see was a small valley surrounded by huge rocks. Xie Wuji, Lin Cangbo, Mister Cao and Mister Wu were stuck within the valley, their faces fragile with vague green hues. Obviously, they had been poisoned and furthermore they were heavily injured.
Although it was difficult for any poisoning attempt against them to be lethal based on their level of cultivation, they were definitely quite badly affected.
A scaly green light was seen on the snow all around them, obviously scatterings of poisonous powder. Even birds flying above would fearfully find it hard to fly pass this spot. Looking around, the potency of the powder was only slightly weaker near the exit of the little mountain valley.
A white-bearded, ruddy faced, and refined old man with an otherworldly air stood at the exit, stopping the guardians from being able to rush out of the little valley.
