Everyone’s gazes darted to Shen Fanxing and lips curled upwards. But her eyes remained calm and cold.

Her cold and composed voice drifted into the air and echoed around. It resulted in a buzz of discussion in the silent banquet hall.
“She was chased out six years ago? What happened?”
“She did many shameful things back then and was expelled from school. The Shen family must have felt ashamed.”
“No matter what, she’s still a Shen. How can they chase her away?”
“That’s hard to say. The current Madam Shen was originally the third party. How would she accept someone else’s daughter? I heard that the Shen family forced this lady’s mother to death…”

Yang Liwei and Shen Qianrou’s faces turned pale. Those labels were the most hurtful.
Jiang Rongrong’s face darkened again. She knew that Shen Fanxing wouldn’t listen to her and cancel the engagement as she had told her to!
Clenching her teeth, she hurried to the stage. She took the microphone, and explained,
“Everyone, please don’t misunderstand. As the saying goes, dirty linen shouldn’t be washed in public. My granddaughter committed some mistakes back then. We were afraid that she would not be able to withstand the pressure of public opinion. That was why we arranged for her to complete her studies overseas…”
Upon hearing that, everyone understood.
Their gazes towards Shen Fanxing gradually contained disdain and disgust.
“That means she doesn’t know what’s good for her!”
Shen Fanxing clasped her hands tightly, and her face was devoid of any emotions. Her heart remained cold.
Everything that happened back then were rumors without any evidence.
Some believed while others just laughed it off. The rest gossiped about it after meals.
Yet today, Jiang Rongrong had deliberately said that dirty linen shouldn’t be washed in public. She also mentioned that Shen Fanxing was unable to withstand public opinion and thus, she was sent overseas. That proved that the rumors were right.
This was her family. Today, she was asked to protect Shen Qianrou, at the expense of these groundless accusations being mercilessly brought up against her.
Why was Shen Qianrou’s reputation so important while Shen Fanxing deserved to be criticized?
Shen Fanxing smiled as her eyes swept across the hall. Just as she was about to speak, Jiang Rongrong’s voice interjected swiftly,
“Fanxing, let’s discuss that in private later. Think about why you are here today?”
Jiang Rongrong stared at her, and her intelligent eyes narrowed warningly.
Suppressing her anger, Shen Fanxing smiled lightly and nodded.
“I do have something to say. How could I forget your special instructions?”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Rongrong frowned and her grip on the microphone tightened.
What did she mean by special instructions?
Was she trying to expose her?
She trembled nervously and had an urge to chase Shen Fanxing off the stage.
Before she could do so, Shen Fanxing pressed on.
“I’m here to end the engagement.”
The moment her words left her lips, there was an uproar.
