Not to mention...was it just her imagination or Mao Mao’s voice sounded so cold when he told her to just get the food and leave afterwards?

Fen Wén bit her lips and stood there, unmoving. Her shoulders were trembling, she felt like something stuck at her throat yet what could she do? If Mao Mao said she had to wait outside then so be it.
"...yes, master, " Fen Wén bowed politely as she answered in a shaky voice. Mao Mao who heard this almost looked at the girl but suddenly decided not to.
He just nodded his head and focused back on his work.
Seeing Mao Mao like this, Fen Wén crumpled her skirt. The girl took a deep breath trying to stay calm and abruptly made a U-turn. She hurriedly left the office to get the food.
Kitchen.
"Hey, anyone free to bring this food to our prime minister?" Fen Wén suddenly shouted to the maidservants at the kitchen. The girl decided to send another girl to the office as she felt that she would cry if she went back there.
Instantly, several maidservants looked at Fen Wén’s direction with shining eyes.
"Our prime minister??"
"Do you mean...Lord Mao Mao?!"
"Wait, that super handsome, smart and kind sacred beast?"
"Kyaaahhh let me, let me deliver the food!"
"No, me!"
"Fen Wén ah, we’re friends right, let me go, okay?"
The girls started to surround Fen Wén like a pack of hyenas. It couldn’t be helped as they had never seen Mao Mao from a close distance, unlike Fen Wén.
They came from a rather low-ranked family compared to Fen Wén who had the privilege to serve the empress dowager ever since she was small.
Now the girl herself asked them to deliver dinner to the young, handsome and kind prime minister, who wouldn’t want to?
Seeing this, Fen Wén just casually scanned over the girls and pointed her finger to the girl who shouted the loudest before. With a smile on her face, she beckoned the girl.
"You, come here, " Fen Wén crooked her finger as she held the food tray using her left hand. Being called like that, the girl wearing a brown dress was so excited that her freckled face blushed red.
"M-me? Y-yes!" The girl rushed to Fen Wén and stopped right in front of her. She was younger than Fen Wén and shorter thus she had to look up at Fen Wén just to talk to her.
"Hmmm, you will do. Here, bring this food to his excellency and say..." Fen Wén paused a bit, "Tell him I’m not feeling well, " the girl flashed a bitter smile as she handed the silver tray to the girl with freckles.
"A-alright, I-i will do my best!" The girl with freckles was so excited that she became nervous instead. Her hands which were holding the tray trembled non-stop.
Seeing this, Fen Wén patted the girl’s shoulder encouraging her, "I count on you, okay?" She spoke in a warm tone of voice making the other girl felt less nervous than before.
"S-sure, leave it to me!" The girl bent her back thanking Fen Wén before dashing out of the kitchen heading to the office. The other girls saw that Fen Wén had chosen someone else to replace her thus they slowly went back to their own work.
Some grumbled feeling jealous of the other girl and the rest could only bite their nail cursing how lucky the freckled girl was.
At the same time, Fen Wén walked slowly to her chamber and once she arrived, she immediately threw her body to the bed. The girl buried her face to the pillow somehow not feeling well for real.
"Why..." Fen Wén whispered to herself. She had just realized that she had a feeling for Mao Mao and suddenly the guy avoided her. Did he notice her feeling? Was it why he acted like this?
But she never showed it outside...he shouldn’t know that she harboured a secret feeling for him.
"...hhhhh..." Fen Wén let out a long sigh. The girl turned around and grabbed her bolster trying to seek comfort by hugging it.
She really didn’t understand what’s going on Mao Mao’s mind but if he wanted her to stay away...then so be it.
Her heart ached just by thinking like this yet she couldn’t do anything. What if Mao Mao fired her and replaced her place with another maidservant?
"I can’t let that happen..." Fen Wén sobbed. Sure, she had told another girl to replace her for the time being but she won’t want it to happen forever.
Just for tonight, tomorrow...she would be back to her usual self.
The girl covered her head with her blanket and fell asleep without eating.
Mao Mao’s office.
Mao Mao was writing using his brush when there’s a soft knock on the door without anyone calling out.
The young man subconsciously lifted his head and raised one of his eyebrows in confusion. Usually, Fen Wén would call out whenever she’s about to enter but now she just knocked on the door?
Mao Mao felt that something was amiss but recalling he still had a lot of works to do, the man casually spoke, "Come in." He expected Fen Wén to come bringing a tray of food like usual but what he saw next made him dropped the brush he was holding.
"E-excuse me..." a girl with freckles on her face and tied her hair in two pigtails came through the door bringing a tray of warm food.
