1289 Chapter 26 Mao Mao Love Story
Mao Mao suddenly grabbed Fen Wén’s shoulder and spoke in a super-serious tone of voice, "Listen to me, I have to explain something to you."
Mao Mao waited until Fen Wén responded since he didn’t want to startle her. In fact, he already did but Fen Wén didn’t show it to the young man.
She stiffly nodded trying to control her facial expression. Her heart was pounding hard as Mao Mao’s face was literally so close to her. Not to mention that he was grabbing her shoulder.
’This is so nerve-wracking!’ The girl thought as she bit her lips waiting for Mao Mao to speak. Once the girl nodded, Mao Mao immediately explained in a gentle yet still serious tone.
"Yesterday I avoid you not because I’m not satisfied with your work or anything..." Mao Mao started his explanation without beating around the bush.
He blinked softly before resuming, "I avoid you because you faint last time and I thought it’s because of me..." the young man’s voice was full of sorrow and regret.
One could see his face turned slightly darker than before, looking solemn. He averted his eyes as he opened his mouth again, "T-that’s why I avoid you."
He paused to take a breath, "I thought you dislike me.." Mao Mao lowered his head not wanting to see Fen Wén’s reaction.
He knew that there’s no way Fen Wén would hate him but...what if it’s true that she hated him?
The thought made Mao Mao tightened her grip on Fen Wén’s shoulder making the girl flinched. She hurriedly replied in a panic, "N-no, that’s not true!"
The girl was half-shouting startling Mao Mao. The young man slowly raised his head and stared blankly expecting Fen Wén to continue.
Being stared like that, the girl couldn’t help but flustered. She looked away from Mao Mao as her whole face turned red. In a shaky voice, the girl spoke,
"T-that day I faint because of myself...it’s not b-because of you, master, " Fen Wén squeezed her eyes tight feeling her face burned from embarrassment.
Should she confess that the day of the festival she fainted because Mao Mao carried her?
’No, no, that can’t do!’ Fen Wén silently thought, deciding not to disclose the truth. Nevertheless, recalling Mao Mao’s explanation, a smile subconsciously appeared on her face.
Hearing Fen Wén’s answer, Mao Mao felt like a huge burden inside vanished in a second. He felt so light and somehow something warm filled his body.
With beaming eyes, the young man shook Fen Wén’s shoulder out of excitement, "Really?? It’s not because of me??"
The panda shook Fen Wén until the girl almost fell. Thank God Fen Wén hurriedly nodded while saying in a desperate tone, "Y-yes, yes! It’s not master’s fault at all!"
Only when Mao Mao heard the confirmation he stopped shaking Fen Wén’s shoulder. The young man released his grip on Fen Wén’s shoulder and flashed a sweet, childish smile befitting his age.
"Thank God...so it’s not my fault..." Mao Mao spoke, revealing his row of neat, white teeth. For the first time ever, the young man finally acted like teens of his age.
Seeing that blinding smile, Fen Wén felt like fainting right away. Blood rushed to her head as her heart pumped faster. Her body felt like being electrocuted.
’S-so cute!!’
Fen Wén squealed in her heart. She was used to seeing Mao Mao’s official smile. It looked warm, kind and mature but she’s sure that it wasn’t his genuine smile so...
When she saw his smile just now...which was a real deal...her brain almost got fried.
’No one can see Mao Mao’s smile!’ Fen Wén hurriedly thought as she was afraid the girls would fall head over heels for this guy if they saw his smile just now.
That..would be bad.
"Fen Wén? What’s wrong?" Mao Mao’s sudden voice interrupted Fen Wén’s trail of thought. The young man waved his hand in front of Fen Wén’s face looking confused that the girl suddenly stopped moving.
"N-no, nothing..." Fen Wén shook her head to clear her mind. She felt ashamed that she dazed off just now only because Mao Mao showed her his most precious smile.
Seeing the girl already acted like usual, Mao Mao silently felt relieved. He scratched his head for a few seconds looking awkward before speaking again, "T-that...so I don’t have any intention to avoid you..."
The young man paused a bit, "Yesterday I thought that you wouldn’t want to see me so I did that..." Mao Mao bit his lips as he looked down. His long, black and white hair swayed as he did so.
"I won’t push you away anymore so will you keep serving me?" Mao Mao finally spoke his piece. Since he was too nervous, the panda didn’t lift his head.
He just stared at the floor. His back was drenched in a cold sweat and even his palms felt icy.
Seeing Mao Mao looked like this, Fen Wén felt a pang to her heart. She suddenly remembered that last night she made others replaced her job.
Could it be Mao Mao was concerned because of that?
This thought made Fen Wén wanted to kneel and apologise. Fen Wén rushed to clear the misunderstanding, "Y-yes, I will always serve you, master!"
She wanted to say that she’s sorry for yesterday but somehow couldn’t say it. Mao Mao won’t know that she deliberately did that, right?
Or...did he knew? Since he suddenly discussed that matter...
