1292 Chapter 29 Mao Mao Love Story
Just like that the tiny rumour spreading among the maidservants disappeared yet the ripples were still there, leaving a faint trace.
Fen Wén went back to Mao Mao’s office when it was lunchtime. She carried the tray full of food with a gloomy face.
She knew that it was just a rumour but her feeling told her that it wasn’t a baseless rumour. Maybe Mao Mao was indeed going to be engaged soon.
But if that was the truth...what could she do?
"...I like him..." Fen Wén whispered softly as she stopped right in front of Mao Mao’s office. The girl didn’t know why but she felt so reluctant to enter the room.
Yet this was her work, she couldn’t just be moody again like yesterday.
Gritting her teeth, Fen Wén tugged her lips to form a faint smile before knocking on the door, "Master, excuse me..."
Her voice sounded as cheerful as usual. No one would know that she wasn’t feeling happy right now.
"Yes, come in, " Mao Mao’s voice rang followed by the sound of the door being slides open.
Fen Wén entered bringing the tray of food with her. The girl slowly walked toward Mao Mao’s office desk while plastering a smile on her face.
With a cheerful tone of voice, the girl spoke, "Master, it’s time for lunch!" She grinned from ear to ear as she put down the food tray on the round dining table not far from Mao Mao’s working desk.
Mao Mao subconsciously lifted his head and nodded, "Alright, I’ll finish this one and eat, " the man fasten his working speed in order to eat faster.
10 minutes later, the young man put down the brush and stretched as he stood up, "Have you eaten?" Mao Mao casually asked as he approached the dining table where Fen Wén waited.
Fen Wén who was standing upright flinched not expecting Mao Mao to come to the dining table. He usually ate at his office desk.
"I...I haven’t..." Fen Wén took a step back as she answered. The girl lowered her head avoiding Mao Mao’s gaze. Seeing his casual smile only reminded her of the rumour she heard just now.
This won’t do!
Mao Mao nodded reflexively and slowly sat down but then he suddenly looked at Fen Wén and spoke with a smile on his face, "Then how about we eat together?"
The young man looked at the table full of food which Fen Wén arranged. He silently thought that he won’t be able to finish all of this thus why not share it with Fen Wén?
Fen Wén was shocked silly that she almost stumbled. The girl looked between Mao Mao and the food before shaking her head, "N-no, master, the food is yours..."
She paused a bit, "I will eat after this, " she reassured Mao Mao with a stiff smile but the young man was stubborn.
He crooked his finger and urged, "I won’t be able to finish this so just eat here!" Mao Mao stared at Fen Wén pressuring her to stay and ate.
He had a spare food utensils in the room so Fen Wén could eat with him!
Seeing Mao Mao was so determined to let her eat, Fen Wén could only reluctantly sat down across him.
With an apologetic smile, she faintly spoke, "I-if that’s so, please excuse me..." the girl bit her lips looking nervous as she watched the food in front of her without touching it.
Noticing how nervous Fen Wén was, Mao Mao felt a bit irritated. The young man knitted his eyebrows not knowing why Fen Wén was still acting so formal around him when they were already quite close.
"Don’t be nervous, just relax, " Mao Mao laughed a bit hiding his irritation. He silently pondered whether there’s something disturbing Fen Wén for her to act formally in front of him.
’Maybe I did something wrong?’ Was what Mao Mao thought.
Being asked to relax, Fen Wén became even more nervous. She had never heard a master asked their servant to eat at the same table with them.
Wasn’t this weird??
The girl wanted to say so but seeing Mao Mao’s expectant eyes, she could only nod, "Y-yes, master..."
Of course, even though the girl said so, she didn’t touch any of the food before Mao Mao did. The young man went to get new food utensils for Fen Wén before getting his food.
"Let’s eat!" The young man said happily as he took a piece of beef and out of the blue, placed it on Fen Wén’s bowl.
The girl who was planning to wait for Mao Mao to eat first was stunned silly. Seeing the piece of beef laying inside her rice bowl, her eyes widened in disbelief.
Did Mao Mao just give her food?? Wait, he took it for her.
"M-master, this..I..." Fen Wén’s face turned red as she tried to refuse Mao Mao’s kindness. The act of giving food to others was something a bit sensitive after all.
Usually, it symbolized closeness or affection.
Thus when Mao Mao did it...Fen Wén felt like her heart exploded. She didn’t want to misunderstand Mao Mao’s kindness to be special attention or something but...
If it’s like this how could she not misunderstand??
Knowing exactly what was inside Fen Wén’s mind, Mao Mao blinked innocently and suddenly chuckled.
"You look thin, eat more!" The young man added more beef to Fen Wén’s bowl even after knowing she was troubled by it.
This young man...is doing it on purpose!
