Chapter 160: Lin Fei’er is Pregnant
Li Shan had not expected Su Wan’s face to still be stoic after he introduced himself. She appeared so calm, as if she had heard the name of a normal person.
Li Shan was a little gloomy and couldn’t help wishing to introduce his past achievements to Su Wan. However, before he could continue, Su Wan declined graciously.
“Oh, you’re Director Li Shan! You’re a good director but I don’t think I’m suited for acting. I’m sorry to let you down.”
Li Shan was tongue tied after hearing what Su Wan said. He pointed to the two celebrities in rich attire, then to the crowd who were screaming non-stop.
“Ms. Su, would you like to reconsider? I have a youth romance movie on hand and I think the charisma of the female lead matches you.”
With a faint smile, Su Wan shook her head, “Even if I don’t enter the showbiz, we will still have an opportunity to work together, for instance, on the Beitong project…”
Li Shan gaped. He wanted to continue convincing but after seeing Su Wan’s firmness, he thought this little woman was as stubborn as Jiang Xuecheng.
He rarely took fancy to newbies and had wanted to let her audition for the female lead but Su Wan was not at all moved.
Feeling agitated, Li Shan tugged at his own sleeves and said, “Alright then, I look forward to our future collaboration.”
Su Wan nodded at Director Li Shan. Li Shan then took his wine goblet and walked away. Before he could walk far, a group of people surrounded him.
Although Li Shan had gotten a cold treatment from Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng, there were obviously still many people who were willing to flatter him.
Su Wan turned sideways to glance at Li Shan, who was now being surrounded by people. Then, she turned toward Jiang Xuecheng and smiled.
“Xuecheng, was Director Li Shan the one who invited you into the showbiz?”
“What do you think?” Jiang Xuecheng pursed his lips and replied simply, “Who else would do such a thing apart from him?”
Su Wan couldn’t help laughing. She looked all around Jiang Xuecheng and teased, “I think you don’t have to decline. If you abandon the business world and enter the entertainment world, you could still call the wind and summon the rain.”
Jiang Xuecheng supported his chin and smiled faintly. “Do you wish to be surrounded by reporters every time we go out? Or surrounded by fans requesting for autographs?”
Su Wan frowned. Imagining that scene, she firmly shook her head and said, “Let’s forget about it.”
If Jiang Xuecheng did really become a celebrity in the spotlight, he would have more fans and their lives would be affected, or at least, their private space would shrink tremendously…
Jiang Xuecheng caressed Su Wan’s hair and a warmth flowed between them.
Just then, the mobile phone in Su Wan’s handbag vibrated. Su Wan widened her eyes slightly. She took out her mobile phone from her handbag and saw Lin Fei’er’s name on the screen of her phone.
Why was Fei’er calling her at this hour?
Su Wan glanced at the noisy crowd and thought this place was too noisy.
She stood up immediately and shook her mobile phone at Jiang Xuecheng, signaling to him that she had a call. Then, she found a quieter corner and made a call.
On the other end of the phone, Su Wan heard weird noises and sound of footsteps, as if there were many people around Lin Fei’er, but she couldn’t make out what they were saying.
Su Wan raised her brows slightly and was curious as to where Lin Fei’er was at the moment. “Hello, Fei’er, it seems that we are both in noisy places. Can you hear me?”
“Wan,” Lin Fei’er started speaking in a weird tone. “I wish to tell you something…”
Su Wan flipped her bangs and smiled. Every time Lin Fei’er spoke in this tone, it must be good news.
“What is it that you’re so secretive about?”
Lin Fei’er paused for a while. Her voice became light. Even through the phone, Su Wan could hear Lin Fei’er’s current happy mood.
“Wan, I’m pregnant!”
What? Fei’er is pregnant!
Su Wan widened her eyes. God, she was going to be a godmother!
In the past, Su Wan and Lin Fei’er had an agreement. If their children were of different genders, the little boy and girl would be betrothed but if their children were of the same gender, then they would become sworn brothers or sisters.
Su Wan excitedly held her phone. “When did you find out? Where are you now?”
Lin Fei’er smiled primly. “I tested with a pregnancy test kit several days ago. I’m now at the hospital to do a pregnancy test.”
“Oh,” Su Wan nodded and then remembered something, “What about Li Peng? Is he with you?”
“He’s very busy lately and very often has lunch dates with his clients. I didn’t ask him to accompany me. He doesn’t know I’m pregnant. I want to give him a surprise.”
At the thought of Lin Fei’er in the hospital alone, Su Wan pursed her lips and was worried.
“How could you not call Li Peng to accompany you? No matter how busy he is, what could be more important than you now? You’re now a pregnant lady and I’m worried that you’re alone. Which hospital are you in?”
Upon hearing what Su Wan said, Lin Fei’er saw women accompanied by their husband. At that instant, she felt envious of them.
However, at the thought of giving Li Peng a surprise, Lin Fei’er relaxed again.
She was a tomboy and was used to being carefree. Hence, she didn’t mind whether someone was there to accompany her or otherwise.
“No worries, I’m just testing for pregnancy and I’ve just gotten pregnant. Nothing bad will happen to me. You have to work today and it’s troublesome for you to apply for leave. Trust me, I’ll be alright alone.”
Although Su Wan worked in Di Chen Group, she was only a normal employee. If Su Wan were to apply for time off for her sake, Lin Fei’er was afraid someone would find fault with Su Wan.
Su Wan gazed at Jiang Xuecheng who was sitting on the chair. Then, she tried hard to convince Lin Fei’er.
“It’s the Beitong celebration banquet today and my duty is almost done. Just let me accompany you. Don’t forget, this baby is going to be my baby’s other half or sworn sibling.”
Lin Fei’er was amused by Su Wan’s words. She knew Su Wan was a person who was loyal to her friends. Hence, she did not insist.
“Alright then. I’m in Kang Ping Hospital in S City. Be careful on the road.”
“Okay. Wait for me. I’ll be right there.”
Su Wan ended the call. She walked to Jiang Xuecheng’s side and told him about her conversation with Lin Fei’er in short.
Jiang Xuecheng knew Su Wan cared for this friend of hers. He darted her a gentle look and replied, “Alright. I’ll go with you then.”
Su Wan shook her head, “It’s okay. I’ll go alone. You’d better stay here.”
Jiang Xuecheng could not dissuade Su Wan and considering today’s event with the presence of many guests, it was not appropriate for him to leave. Finally, he asked Ah Si to send Su Wan to Kang Ping Hospital.
