Chapter 203: Someone Wants Your Life
Su Wan looked at the cement brick stained with blood and her heart tightened.
If Lu Qingyu had not pushed her aside, she was afraid her head would have been hit and her soul would have flown to heaven.
Although she didn’t have good impression of the playboy Lu Qingyu, there was great guilt in her eyes as she looked at him now. She pursed her lips and asked Lu Qingyu softly about his injury.
“Are you alright? I’m so sorry, the ambulance will be here soon. Hold on a little longer.”
Lu Qingyu’s deep amorous eyes swept across Su Wan and his lips curved into a smile. “It’s worth the injury if I can make the beauty worried.”
Su Wan was speechless hearing this. Lu Qingyu’s leg was badly injured but he had not forgotten his true character.
She hoped nothing serious had happened to Lu Qingyu’s leg and there would not be any negative effects in the future or she would be forever indebted to him.
The ambulance arrived faster than Su Wan had imagined. Seeing the medical staff carrying Lu Qingyu into the ambulance with a stretcher, Su Wan followed suit.
The medical staff took out some gauze, alcohol swabs, and some other medical items before helping Lu Qingyu stop his bleeding.
Su Wan looked at the gauze filled with blood and she had a sudden shiver. She couldn’t bear looking any longer. So, she turned to shift her attention away.
Suddenly, Su Wan’s phone rang. Seeing Jiang Xuecheng’s number on her phone display, her eyes moved slightly and she answered the call.
Originally, Jiang Xuecheng had wanted to ask about Jinjiang project but he kept hearing the siren of the ambulance and got worried.
“Wan Wan, are you in an ambulance? What happened?”
Hearing Jiang Xuecheng’s words of concern, Su Wan’s heart felt warm. She said, “Xuecheng, don’t worry, I’m fine.”
As she spoke, she looked complicatedly at Lu Qingyu who was lying on the stretcher. She bit her lips and told Jiang Xuecheng briefly what had happened just now.
“An accident happened. Lu Qingyu’s leg has been hit by a brick.”
Lu Qingyu?
Wasn’t Su Wan at the construction site of Jinjiang commercial building? Why was that man with Su Wan?
There was a sudden change of emotions in Jiang Xuecheng’s heart but he knew he couldn’t get a clear answer about it through the phone. He decided to ask, “Wan Wan, which hospital are you going to?”
When Jiang Xuecheng’s low and magnetic voice entered her ears, she was shocked. By asking that, did he mean he was coming?
Jiang Xuecheng was actually very busy and he had a meeting to attend in the afternoon. If he were to delay the progress of his work because of her…
Su Wan hesitated for two seconds and finally told him the name of the hospital.
“People’s Hospital of S City.”
“Alright, I’ll be right there.”
Just as his voice died down, Jiang Xuecheng ended the call. He took the meeting documents from his desk and handed them to Ah Si who was beside him.
“Ah Si, please inform all departments that today’s meeting is cancelled.”
As he spoke, he marched out of the office. Feeling distressed, Ah Si flipped the documents in his hand. Gosh, he had to deal with those annoying old goblins again.
Jiang Xuecheng drove his Koenigsegg Agera R toward the People’s Hospital of S City. Why were there so many cars on the street today? The traffic in the entire city was congested.
With frustration, Jiang Xuecheng turned his steering wheel. Although Su Wan said she was fine, Jiang Xuecheng was still worried if Su Wan was injured.

At noon, in People’s Hospital of S City, Su Wan was sitting outside the operating theater. She looked at the caller ID on her phone and her eyes flashed.
What happened today was really shocking. According to what she knew, the teams, from the design to the construction of Jinjiang commercial building, had been selected carefully. Bricks should not have fallen.
“Wan Wan, are you alright?”
A cold male voice was suddenly heard from behind. Su Wan turned around and saw Jiang Xuecheng.
Su Wan smiled faintly. “I’m fine but Lu Qingyu’s injury is serious. The doctor says there’s a fracture on his leg.”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xuecheng held Su Wan’s shoulders and examined her from head to toe.
After making sure Su Wan was not injured, Jiang Xuecheng let out a sigh of relief and started asking her about the accident.
Su Wan gave him a detailed account of what happened this morning. Recalling it, she had a lingering fear and at the same time there was a faint sense of guilt.
Jiang Xuecheng saw Su Wan’s gloomy look and caressed her hair. “Don’t worry, Lu Qingyu is a lucky man. He’ll be alright.”
He should really thank Lu Qingyu for saving Su Wan today.
Just when Jiang Xuecheng was consoling Su Wan, a doctor pushed the door open and waved at them. “Are you Lu Qingyu’s friends? You may go in and see him now.”
Su Wan nodded at the doctor. Then, she held Jiang Xuecheng’s hand immediately and they entered the ward together.
Because Lu Qingyu had lost too much blood, the man, who was usually in high spirit, now looked pale. When he saw Su Wan, his eyes lit up but when he saw the man behind her, he smiled faintly.
“Mr. Jiang, I didn’t expect you to come and see me. I’m honored that you’ve graced me with your presence.”
Jiang Xuecheng looked at Lu Qingyu faintly and his eyes were fixed on his leg in plaster.
“Thank you for saving Wan Wan.”
Lu Qingyu was taken aback at first, as if he had not expected Jiang Xuecheng to utter this sentence first. He regained his senses and smiled.
“It’s a small matter. I’m always fond of being a hero, saving damsels. Of course, it’s my honor to be praised by Mr. Jiang.”
Hearing what Lu Qingyu said, Su Wan couldn’t help laughing. This was the first time she had ever seen someone in such a miserable situation able to still smile. Moreover, his smile was genuine.
Jiang Xuecheng remained cold and indifferent. He looked steadily at Lu Qingyu and with his deep and steady voice, said, “I owe you one. Within reasonable limits, you can ask me for a favor.”
Upon hearing this, Lu Qingyu pouted. He looked at Su Wan and blinked seductively. “Sigh, actually, I’m more interested in Su Wan.”
With Lu Qingyu’s miserable leg, coupled with what he said, the scene looked funny.
When he saw Jiang Xuecheng’s look turning colder and colder, Lu Qingyu teasingly added, “However, I shouldn’t have ulterior motives towards the wife of my friend. I still have my virtues and will not do anything against morality.”
Su Wan’s mind seemed to be full. She looked at Lu Qingyu and asked, “So, what’s your request?”
“I’ll be holding an auction party on the cruise ship in a few days. Why don’t both of you attend and bid for a few collectables?”
Just that?
Su Wan was slightly stunned. She thought Lu Qingyu would make some tricky demands.
“Alright.”
Before Su Wan could respond, Jiang Xuecheng agreed.
“Mr. Jiang, you’re quick to promise.” Lu Qingyu narrowed his eyes and he looked serious.
“Let me tell you another thing. What happened today might not be an accident. Someone seems to want Su Wan’s life.”
