Chapter 223: An’ning, You’re Crazy!
Su Wan was stunned for two seconds before realizing that Jiang Xuecheng had kissed her.
However, before she could feel the gentle touch on her forehead, Jiang Xuecheng had gotten up, as if the kiss was merely an illusion.
Jiang Xuecheng looked at her and his eyes, which were as deep as the ocean, were very dark.
“Wan Wan, you don’t have to apologize next time.”
There was a hint of shyness on Su Wan’s pretty face. She calmed herself and replied, “Okay.”
With Jiang Xuecheng’s swift kiss, Su Wan’s chaotic emotions seemed to have been suppressed.
When she held Jiang Xuecheng’s hand, the warmth of his palm made Su Wan’s heart more steadfast.
What was she afraid of? She wasn’t the one in the wrong…
Su Wan believed that all the seniors of the Jiang family were rational. Even if they had to defend the juniors, they would have a sense of propriety.
There was no need for her fear, more so when this man was beside her.
Because it was night time, the outermost gate of the Jiang old mansion had already been locked. Jiang Xuecheng rang the doorbell. After a while, a servant ran out.
When she saw Jiang Xuecheng and Su Wan, she was surprised and gaped, “Young Master, Young Madam, why are both of you here?”
Jiang Xuecheng’s cold and indifferent lips were pursed slightly. When Su Wan saw him in silence, she smiled and spoke on behalf of him.
“Err, we’re here to look for Ms. Sheng An’ning. Could you please open the door for us?”
“Of course, Young Madam.”
The servant smiled simply and immediately opened the gate for Jiang Xuecheng and Su Wan. “Ms. Sheng and Second Young Master are on the third floor.”
Suddenly, the servant thought of something. She nodded respectfully at Jiang Xuecheng and said, “Senior Madam and Madam would be happy to see you, Young Master. They are playing chess in the tea room. Would you like me to inform them?”
Jiang Xuecheng shook his head slightly before he replied, “No, thank you.”
Their intention of being here was clear. It would be much easier for them without the involvement of others.
As he spoke, Jiang Xuecheng held Su Wan’s hand and walked right into the house. The minute they walked to the third floor, they heard the beautiful sound of the guqin.
The clear sound of the guqin reverberated in the air. Su Wan seemed to be able to see a butterfly dancing in the air, gently vibrating its wings with a slight sadness.
No doubt, the person playing this piece of music was Sheng An’ning, whom they were looking for.
Su Wan heard the music in the air and she went into a trance. Su Wan’s mother, Xie Lan, was a guqin enthusiast. When she was a young child, Su Wan could always hear her mother play the instrument at home.
Su Wan had not heard the sound of guqin for a long time but she had to admit that Sheng An’ning was very musically talented. As a layperson, Su Wan could feel the beauty of the musical despite not knowing how to play the guqin.
When Jiang Xuecheng saw Su Wan spacing out, he pursed his lips and tugged Su Wan along toward the music room.
The door was suddenly pushed opened and the sound of the door interrupted Sheng An’ning’s performance.
Sheng An’ning frowned and withdrew her fingers from the strings. She and Jiang Haoxuan looked at the door at the same time.
When they saw a tall and a short figure at the door, they were surprised, especially Sheng An’ning. She put down the instrument in her hand and dashed toward the person she yearned for day and night.
“Brother Xuecheng, why are you here?” Sheng An’ning smiled and her smile was as sweet as a grape.
She grinned. “Brother Xuecheng, were you attracted by the sound of my guqin?”
Jiang Xuecheng pursed his lips tighter. When Sheng An’ning saw that he was silent, her heart skipped a beat. Only then did she wake up from her surprise of seeing Jiang Xuecheng.
Sheng An’ning saw Jiang Xuecheng’s cold gaze and unconsciously took a step backward. Sweat broke out on her palms.
“What’s wrong, Brother Xuecheng?”
Sheng An’ning’s heart tightened. Had Jiang Xuecheng found out about the secret of Secluded Orchid In A Deserted Valley?
How could it be? It was such a short time and Su Wan might not even have used the perfume.
Back then, when she came back with this bottle of perfume as a gift, she had put all eggs in one basket. If Su Wan were to use it for ten days or so, she would face difficulty getting pregnant in the future.
Even if her plot were to be discovered, her purpose had been achieved.
It had merely been several hours since. How could her plot be revealed so easily?
Jiang Xuecheng looked at Sheng An’ning. His voice was like a thousand-year-old ice that could not melt, bringing along layers of coldness.
“How do you explain this bottle of perfume?”
As Jiang Xuecheng spoke, he took out the bluish-purple glass bottle from Su Wan’s handbag.
Sheng An’ning looked at the bottle of perfume and her eyes widened. Her slender body stiffened!
However, Sheng An’ning’s mind worked very fast. In just a few seconds, she returned calm.
She tilted her pretty face with innocence in her eyes. “Brother Xuecheng, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
The only thing that revealed Sheng An’ning’s nervousness was her pair of hands, which were seized tightly.
Just when Sheng An’ning was ready to resort to sophistry, Jiang Haoxuan could not take it any longer. He came in front of Sheng An’ning and started to fight against injustice on her behalf.
“Brother, how could you say that about An’ning? She’d never do such thing! Do you know you’ve accused her? It might be Su Wan who has substituted the perfume for another!”
Su Wan who had been silent heard Jiang Haoxuan distorting the truth and her eyes turned cold.
Birds of a feather flock together. She and Sheng An’ning had just met and Jiang Xuecheng didn’t like Sheng An’ning. Why would she gamble with her future child to frame an unrelated person?
She was not dumb!
Jiang Xuecheng frowned and felt his little brother had become more and more unreasonable.
He put the perfume bottle back on the table and took out a sealed report by Zhao Hua Hospital from Su Wan’s handbag.
Jiang Xuecheng stared at Sheng An’ning and placed the report in front of Sheng An’ning.
“This is the identification report from Zhao Hua Hospital. I think you wouldn’t doubt the professional competence of Zhao Hua Hospital’s professors, would you?”
He had expected her to deny!
Jiang Xuecheng’s composed voice entered Sheng An’ning’s ears and her eyes changed suddenly. She had not expected Jiang Xuecheng to have everything ready!
It was indeed Jiang Xuecheng’s style to not fight an unprepared battle.
Looking at the hospital’s identification report, Sheng An’ning’s face turned pale. Her eyes swept across Jiang Xuecheng’s calm but cold eyes and there was anxiousness which was difficult to hide in her eyes.
Sheng An’ning grit her teeth and all of a sudden, snatched the bluish-purple glass bottle from the table. She opened the lid and poured the perfume into her mouth!
Sheng An’ning’s gesture was too sudden and everyone there was caught off guard.
“An’ning, you’re crazy!”
“Goodness!”
