The car sped steadily along the way. Xi Xiaye leaned gently against the car seat with one hand propped up by the car window. While her calm gaze looked out of the car window at the streetscape, the husband and wife did not speak much in mutual understanding and just remained silent.
“What are you thinking about?” A while after, Mu Yuchen’s low and sensitive voice broke the silence. “Still thinking about Qi Weier?”
“How did you know?” When Xi Xiaye heard his question, she turned to look at him, surprised by his sharp observation. In the next second, she calmed down.
He could always see through her if anything weighed on her mind and did not need to ask.
“I can never hide it whenever something’s on my mind. Am I that obvious?” Xi Xiaye looked at him helplessly and said calmly.
“You’re my wife. Of course, I should be able to tell.” He chuckled as his eyes were filled with a faint tenderness as he squinted at her. “Ah Shi’s a very patient person. Since she’s agreed to it, that means she’s already prepared for it. Don’t worry. She and Ah Mo will take good care of the little girl. I know you’ve always wanted a daughter, but the thing about children is that you’ve got to go along with fate. You’re tired enough with the two little boys at home. Just this once, forgive me for being selfish. I’m hoping you could care for me a little more.
“Besides, after you gave birth to our son, your health has deteriorated. If you really want another one, you’ll have to wait another year or two. Right now, things are finally more peaceful. We’ll have a lot more time to get to it.”
Mu Yuchen had already planned it out. Now that things were finally more peaceful and since she kept thinking about it, he could only go along with her. He would find a good doctor to give her a check-up, and then they could go with the flow.
