Chapter 95: Let’s Meet Tomorrow Night
As soon as they entered the door, the servants gathered around.
“Is Miss Claire alright?”
“She’s all wet. I’ll get her bath ready.”
“Then I’ll get her some clean clothes.”
The crowd dispersed in a rush.
Claire was too lazy to struggle. “Let me down. I’m fine.”
Hunter lowered his eyes and looked at her, looking very unhappy. “Don’t pretend to be strong.”
“…”
Mr. Hopkins brought the doctor over.
Claire received an examination in the room while everyone waited outside.
Hunter became more and more irritable. He kicked the door open, rushed in, and grabbed the doctor by the collar. He asked the doctor in a furious tone. “Is she hurt? Tell me!”
The doctor was startled. “No… she isn’t hurt. Miss Claire is very healthy!”
Hearing this, Hunter let go of him.
The doctor ran away from the room.
He was going to resign. Dealing with a fool was too dangerous!
Derek sat down by the bed and asked her with concern. “Sister-in-law, do you feel any discomfort?”
At this time, Hunter walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and stood with his hands behind his back. He narrowed his deep dark eyes and looked out of the window. His face was icy cold.
“I’ll definitely make those who dare to hurt you pay a heavy price!”
Derek was embarrassed. “Hunter, stop playing out a domineering tyrant. It’s out of date.”
Mr. Hopkins pointed to his own head and smiled at Claire apologetically.
The servants had prepared hot water.
Claire felt sticky and uncomfortable all over, so she went to take a bath.
After the bath, her phone rang on the table.
She picked it up and took a look.
It was Marvin from the Ministry of Military and Political Affairs.
After the call was connected, Marvin asked her respectfully. “Miss C, are you busy now?”
Claire sat down by the bed and wiped her hair with a towel. “Not that busy. What’s up?”
“I’d like to ask about the total number of recruits this year so that I can prepare in advance.”
Claire replied coldly. “There are five battalions in total. I will send them to you soon.”
The internal mechanism of the Ministry of Military and Political Affairs was loose. To put it bluntly, discipline was lax in the Ministry and the soldiers they trained were all useless.
A few years ago, Marvin found her, hired her to help select and train recruits, and then sent them to the Ministry of Military and Political Affairs.
Hearing Claire sound a bit angry, Marvin asked her. “Did something happen recently?”
Claire smiled. “I did encounter a small problem. How about we meet tomorrow night?”
“OK, no problem.”
Late at night, the cold wind rustled.
Claire wore a hoodie and put the hat on her head, only revealing her palm-sized face. Her skin was tender and her nose turned pink from the cold, making her look like a little elk.
She stepped into the restaurant.
An attendant pushed open the door of a private room.
“Hi, Miss C.” In the room, Marvin immediately got up to greet her.
He had always treated Claire as a distinguished guest.
After all, the prosperity of the Ministry of Military and Political Affairs depended entirely on Claire currently.
“It’s been a long time.” Claire walked into the room, pulled out a chair, and sat down lazily.
Marvin picked up the teapot and made tea for her.
“What trouble have you gotten into lately?”
He felt that no matter how big the trouble was, it should be a breeze for Claire to solve it.
Claire didn’t answer, took a sip of the tea, and asked him. “I remember that you are about to retire, right?”
Marvin lamented. “Yes, I’m old. Now it’s the age of young people.”
“Have you chosen a successor?”
“Yes, it’s Glen Harris, the current deputy minister. He is fairly honest and capable. I called him over tonight, so that I could introduce him to you.” Marvin smiled in satisfaction.
Amidst the steaming vapours of the tea, Claire narrowed her eyes slightly and smiled. “Really? I’m looking forward to the meeting.”
