Chapter 142: Kill Them All, Every Last One of Them
That elite fighter on night duty was unable to say anything before he was wiped out without a sound.
Lu Xuan was moving at incredible speeds. He was able to move over 100 meters in an instant, and the elite guards along his path were all killed with pebbles before they were even able to react.
Those were fighters with only Level Two or Three powers, after all, so they certainly stood no chance against the likes of Lu Xuan.
Worse yet, none of them seemed to have expected that someone would actually dare to assault the Song Clan just like that.
The clan’s powers and its status in the Holy Dragon Corporation were such that not even the Special Task Force would mess with them without good reason.
Their massive power and status notwithstanding, even if there was anyone who was blind and oblivious enough to get on the bad side of the clan, such a person could not possibly be bold enough to infiltrate the clan’s compound, which was filled with all manner of formidable fighters.
As such, while the security looked airtight, no one on the security detail actually had the psychological preparation to deal with any threat.
Lu Xuan proceeded as he traced the presence he sensed, moving deeper and deeper into the clan’s ancestral land.
A group of higher-ups was gathered in a secret room within the compound at that moment, and all of them had grim looks on their faces.
The assault of Lu Xuan’s manor had been anything but smooth sailing. None of them had expected to see a National Guardian level security guard at the compound. While they had been able to cause serious injuries to the guard, they were still unable to get what they came for.
The Song Clan had intended to kill every single person found in Lu Xuan’s home to serve as a warning to anyone who dared to mess with the clan, to show that getting on their bad side was a surefire way of getting oneself killed.
That was not all. Those invaders had only recently discovered that their Great Ancestor actually died by Lu Xuan’s hand and that he had such great power that their last resort—the armed helicopters that they put in place thinking nothing could go wrong—had all been shot down by Lu Xuan.
They had no access to what had truly happened back on the mountain, but there was no doubt that the clan had met their match this time.
Frankly, the clan had never dealt with any one person who proved so difficult. The clan had always had their way with such lone cultivators, beating and killing them as they fancied and without care. No lone cultivator had ever been able to stand up to the Song Clan and live to tell the tale.
Yet there was one emerging in front of them right there and then. Not only was he able to take on the clan, but he was also able to cause the clan massive losses.
“We absolutely cannot afford to let Lu Xuan live!” One of the higher-ups roared in anger.
The losses they’d suffered that time truly dealt a heavy blow to the Song Clan.
The Song Clan paid no heed to the loss of common folk forces, including even the armed helicopters.
What truly drove a stake into their hearts was the death of their Great Ancestor, Song Lingfeng.
In the world of cultivators, the one with the bigger stick was the one who made the rules, after all.
The Song Clan had only been able to achieve such esteemed status in the Holy Dragon Corporation due to Song Lingfeng’s presence. The very reason that Song Shijie, Song Maoxun’s son, had been able to contend for the position of chairman of the corporation was that he was backed by Song Lingfeng.
With the death of Song Lingfeng at Mount Qingyun, the largest backing force that supported the Song Clan had been uprooted in a single night.
One could imagine how much the Song Clan’s status had fallen in the Holy Dragon Corporation since then.
Worse still, their mortal enemy, Lu Xuan, was able to emerge from it all unscathed. That was absolutely beyond the pale for them.
“There are two most urgent matters we need to address right away. First, we need to request backup. Better still, we must soon think of a way to get the Patriarch to reach Deity level. Only by doing so will we be able to stand firmly again,” the eldest of the elders of the clan said slowly.
Every single higher-up in the room listened with a severe expression.
The death of a single man—the Great Ancestor of the clan—had put them on high alert right away. There were only two National Guardian level cultivators to be found in the clan at the moment: Song Maoxun, the Patriarch of the Song Clan, and Song Tongheng, the eldest elder of the clan.
Those two men acted as a stabilizing factor for all of the clan at the moment.
In the case of average cultivation forces, there was no way they could fail with two National Guardians on their side. Instead, such a force would be considered to be in their golden age.
Yet to the Song Clan, whose influence had once extended throughout the entire nation, whose power had long grown beyond that of a force at the provincial level, who’d had a Deity level being among them, to have only two National Guardians remaining was a crippling blow.
Song Maoxun nodded, fully agreeing with what Song Tongheng had said.
“Second, we absolutely cannot afford to let Lu Xuan live. He killed a member of the clan, and there is no way we can let him walk free just like that!” Song Tongheng continued. “Put out a wanted poster with a bounty of 500 million yuan on his head. We must have him killed. Contact the other clans of the Holy Dragon Corporation and have their Great Ancestors mobilized. We must kill Lu Xuan. This is the corporation’s affair, not just that of the Song Clan!”
The higher-ups all nodded, even though putting a bounty of 500 million yuan on Lu Xuan’s head was a heart-wrenching decision for all of them.
But they understood what was at stake at the moment, and they knew very well that they couldn’t afford to be petty in a time of such crisis.
“We need to pool our strengths together. I want Lu Xuan dead, and I want his head to be offered to our late Great Ancestor,” Song Maoxun said through gritted teeth.
The Song Clan had suffered one blow after another at Lu Xuan’s hands, and nothing like that had ever happened before. The entire clan was fuming over it, and none of them would be able to rest easy until the Sword of Damocles hanging over their heads was removed once and for all.
“Too bad that the weapons left behind today only be used on the ancestral grounds. Otherwise, we would definitely have killed Lu Xuan,” Song Maoxun continued in a glum manner.
Suddenly, they heard shouting outside. Gunshots and explosions followed.
Everyone looked sharp at that moment. They knew someone was invading their ancestral ground.
“Sh*t, don’t tell me it’s the Special Task Force!” A higher-up in the clan muttered. The only party that they could imagine might dare to invade their compound was the Special Task Force.
The expression on everyone’s faces changed. If it was really the Special Task Force, then it was truly the end for all of them.
Everyone knew all too well that the Special Task Force either kept their hands to themselves or struck with lethal force once they decided to make their move.
Furthermore, it was not like they had done nothing to offend the agency. Just that afternoon, they had driven away someone from the agency who came to hold them responsible for they had done.
Judging from the way the Special Task Force operated, they knew it was entirely possible for them to launch such an assault.
“Let’s head outside and see what’s going on.” Song Maoxun clenched his fists and gritted his teeth when he said that.
When the higher-ups emerged from their secret room, they saw the plaza of their compound littered with dead bodies, with blood literally everywhere.
There was only one man who stood alive and well amidst all that carnage, a man who looked to be in his late teens or early twenties.
It was a face with which everyone in the clan had become all too familiar: the face of Lu Xuan, the man they were all wracking their brains to find a way to take out.
Shock was evident on everyone’s faces. They’d thought that it might be the Special Task Force that had shown up at their door, but no one expected it to be Lu Xuan, instead.
Furthermore, he’d come all alone.
There was never an army storming the compound, only Lu Xuan racking up a body count wherever he tread in the clan’s compound, killing every single elite fighter that came across his path.
