Chapter 288: Major Figures of All Walks of Life Trying to Stop Lu Xuan
“You indeed live up to your reputation as number one in all of Huaxia, Mr. Lu!”
A terrifying figure gradually emerged in the dark of night. It was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed man dressed in a dark robe and covered in darkness all over.
“Who are you?” Lu Xuan remained nonchalant as he saw someone emerge from the dark.
“Garcia, a member of the Covenant of Darkness,” that man answered slowly.
“The Covenant of Darkness? Man, yet a bunch of rats.”
Lu Xuan then smirked. “I’ll admit, you people have guts, coming all the way to Huaxia to stir up trouble and all.”
He was rather surprised to find foreign forces being involved in the matter. But then again, there were people everywhere who did not want to see Huaxia becoming a place filled with dragons in human forms.
“The world of cultivation knows no borders, Mr. Lu.”
Garcia then continued, “Why would you want to draw national borders in all of this, I wonder. We cultivators, regardless of where we are from, are brothers and sisters. This is a whole new era, an era of which we reign supreme. Why bother lending a hand to a secular government?”
Garcia locked his gaze on Lu Xuan, feeling rather puzzled.
Lu Xuan had indeed thrown the entire world of cultivation into a frenzy by what he did that time.
Widespread propagation of cultivation among the people was little more than an idea before. However, it took less Lu Xuan less than a month to come up with methods that brought the idea to life, and that itself was very terrifying.
According to their speculations, developing such methods would have taken at least decades otherwise. There would have been plenty of time for the cultivators to resist and come up with countermeasures.
“Summer insects can’t understand the feeling of ice.” Lu Xuan smirked. His powers had been recovering for the past few years, yet he still felt unsatisfied.
He wondered how many years it would have taken him to be restored to full strength if things kept going at such a pace.
Thoughts of terrifying adversaries he had to face in the coming age compelled him to grow as much as possible during the early stages.
He had no lack of methods and was of the right state of mind. The only thing he lacked was an environment allowing him to grow.
As such, he was determined to speed up the restoration throughout the whole wide world.
That was one of his heavy-handed ways to go about it. The limits of the planet could be overcome, and restoration would be hastened if there were enough cultivators about.
His plan succeeded, and the next stage of restoration was just around the corner, and the process was hastened by at least a year. As such, he absolutely would not allow any to get in his way.
A year did not seem like much, but it was enough for him to get a lot done nonetheless.
“The methods are now spread all over the world. What’s the use of getting at me now?” Lu Xuan smirked and asked.
“You’re really underestimating us, aren’t you, Mr. Lu? We could definitely get rid of all of it in the coming months. As for those who have already begun training, they wouldn’t be able to do much even if some geniuses were to emerge among them without guidance from the authorities. Any such individuals would simply join our fold.”
Another shriveled figure emerged from the dark of night all of a sudden. It was an elderly shaman who emanated a mystical aura all over him.
He was a formidable shaman who practiced northern shamanism practices.
It was a primitive form of cultivation that was entirely independent of the Buddhist cultivation practices of Huaxia, which was prevalent in the northern regions of the country. Said practices had once backed a regime and were indeed very powerful.
“Shamans, eh? You guys actually dare to come out like this? It looks like you people have a death wish.”
Lu Xuan smirked and continued, “This is a matter of Huaxia, and yet you punks wanna interfere. It seems to me that you people deserve to be taught a lesson.”
“Mr. Lu, we are here today to implore you to stop working with secular governments in this matter.”
A bald man then emerged in the dark. It was a monk wearing a kasaya. However, he hailed from the Hinayana stream of Buddhism prevalent in Southeast Asia, rather than the Mahayana counterparts prevalent throughout Huaxia.
The monk, who looked to be in his middle age, appeared very shriveled. It was obvious that he was an ascetic, and there was a faint hint of Buddhist power all over him.
A man like that would have been someone able to establish his own religious sect in Southeast Asia.
That was because Hinayana Buddhism was the mainstream of Buddhism practiced in Southeast Asia, and the highest level to be attained in Hinayana Buddhism was Arhat Phala.
It was apparent that the monk before Lu Xuan was already at Arhat Phala.
“Well, you guys don’t look like much to me. It would definitely take far more than just the three of you to stop me.” Lu Xuan shook his head and continued, “I’d like to see just how many trump cards do you people have up your sleeves.”
“Mr. Lu, we are here because we respect you.” A huge snake that was over 100 meters long emerged from the dark. Nobody had detected its presence prior.
“So, it’s not only humans, then. Even the monsters are joining in the fun, eh?” Lu Xuan rubbed his hands and commented with a smirk.
Given how even the surrounding nations around Huaxia felt the pressure on their shoulders when Huaxia began to propagate widespread cultivation among the people, it was only natural for the monsters in Huaxia to feel the clinch as well.
They were probably just as tremendously stressed by the turn of events.
If all Huaxians were to embark on cultivation, and every single one became a decent fighter, the monsters would have hardly been even able to eke out a living by then.
While the number of such monsters far eclipsed that of humans by untold magnitudes of order, it was nonetheless of little use. Any which was unable to have their intellectual capacity awakened could only become monsters as they kept being tainted by ambient spirit qi. That was far from enough from giving them the ability to resist humans.
It could be said that fighters from all walks of life came together just to stop Lu Xuan in his tracks.
“Mr. Lu, there is only so much spirit qi going about in the world. The density of spirit qi in the world at its current stage could never sustain having so many people cultivating at the same time. What you are doing now is akin to severing our foundations. Are you really trying to throw us back to the age of no cultivation again?” Garcia elaborated in a cold manner.
That was one of the fundamental reasons why so many of such cultivators gathered there in the first place.
The Huaxian government becoming powerful in the future could be left to be dealt with at a later date. The fact that there was not enough Spirit Qi to go around was something they needed to deal with at once.
With millions throughout Huaxian embarking on the path of cultivation, the amount of Spirit Qi consumed every day would be in astronomical figures. The world was still too young in that sense to support that many cultivators.
As such, in the eyes of many, what Lu Xuan did was deemed to be an attempt to sever their foundations.
“Punks with no far sight indeed.” Lu Xuan smirked.
If a planet that had never been through the age of gods be thrown into such a state, it would have definitely taxed the planet in question. However, the Earth had a long enough history and had ample resources; it had also been a very prosperous major world once.
What Lu Xuan was doing was simply an attempt to force the laws to unlock the limits at an earlier stage, speeding up the rate at which the planet evolves. Things would have turned out entirely different from what those people had imagined.
“Yap all you want. The bottom line is that you people simply don’t want to see widespread cultivation being carried out in Huaxia, yet that is precisely what I’m gonna keep doing.” Lu Xuan scanned the fighters in the dark and continued, “In that case, I guess there is no point in talking any further then.
