“Liu-jie, they are all gone?” Shu Yan looked at the boss lady in surprise. Just yesterday she said nobody wanted them and she wasn’t able to move the merchandize at all.
“Sold them all and many had placed orders.” The boss lady pulled out a notebook and written on it was names and quantities of those who had placed orders. One of her bigger customers ordered over 100 sets straight up.
“They weren’t selling very good when I came over yesterday so the quantity that I’ve told my friend was a bit on the low side.” Shu Yan hadn’t expected that they’d have sold so much in one morning. She only told Lao Zhang to send over ten sets of each color.
“Then give him a call to send more. I have a phone right here,” said the boss lady urgently.
“There’s no rush. It’s only 6 AM. The factory isn’t even open yet. Nobody will pick up the phone even if we call right now.” Shu Yan pulled out pen and paper. “Let me write down how many you’ve ordered first. I will communicate that to my friend later.” After carefully written down the quantities and colors, Shu Yan collected 1/3 of total cost for deposit.
She visited the few other stores and realized that they were also mostly gone and all asked Shu Yan for more. She gave them the same spiel and recorded the quantities. Finding a public phone outside, she called up the factory. Lao Zhang picked the phone up after one ring. “Who is it?”
“Lao Zhang, it’s me. Everything that I brought with me here was all gone and I’ve got a bunch of orders. All of the wholesalers wanted to get more from us. I will give you the quantities right now. Can you write them down?” Shu Yan was a bit emotional.
“Sure. Sure. Sure. Let me go grab pen and paper.” Lao Zhang anxiously got up from the couch and ran over to his desk for pen and paper. After he had carefully written down the styles, colors, and quantities from Shu Yan, he said, “That many? We don’t have that much in inventory.”
They were worried that would lose too much money so they two of them had been conservative about it. They hadn’t expected sales to be this good.
“Hadn’t I placed an order a while back? Send those over to City Han first and go get more materials from the market immediately. Start a tab with the vendors for now and I will pay them when I get back. Let’s put a rush on this.” They must take advantage of this opportunity. If they missed this opportunity, it wasn’t going to come knocking a second time.
