“Xiuyu, Xiuxiu is pregnant,” announced Zhang Huafeng happily.
“Pregnant?” Wu Xiuyue was taken aback a little at first then said happily, “When did this happen? How far along is she now?”
“I wasn’t feeling well today. Shu Yan said it looked like I could be pregnant and had me go check it out at the hospital. The doctor confirmed that I am pregnant and said I am two months along.” Zhang Huaxiu was very happy. Had she not had a check up today, she very well might lose her child from exhaustion.
Wu Xiuyue was both happy and somewhat worried. In the past, Zhang Huaxiu had been able to help her with inventory and matching the clothes as well as helping her hold down her shop on her time off. That way she could go merchandizing. Now that she was pregnant, it would be wrong to ask her for help in the future. Must she hire another salesperson? That would cost hundreds of yuan a month.
Mother Zhang knew her daughter-in-law well. She wasn’t a bad person but she could be frugal at times.
“You have mentioned that you could make upward of 5,000 ~ 6,000 yuan a month. So what if you hire someone to help you out for hundreds of yuan? The doctor had told Xiuxiu that she was overfatigued and needed to rest up for a few days. She will not be able to help you with your shop in the future.” Mother Zhang was alarmed after the fact after hearing what the doctor had said.
Wu Xiuyue, too, was alarmed. It was lucky that nothing bad had happened. Should anything had happened, it would become her fault.
Embarrassed, she said, “Well, that’s because we had put all of our savings into the shop and I worry. Business might be good this month but that might not necessarily mean that next month will be the same. I thought the more we can save the better. I didn’t think Xiuxiu would get pregnant. Xiuxiu, I am sorry about that. I will hire a salesperson as soon as possible. What would you like to eat? I’ll go get you some tomorrow.”
“That’s right, let your sister-in-law know what you would like to eat. You had helped her so much during this period of time She should treat you,” said Mother Zhang purposefully in order to quell Chen Fei.
Shu Yan had no idea about what was going on at the Zhang family but she was troubled by matters at her company. On top of that, Zhang Huaxiu was pregnant now and she would have a lot less freedom than before.
She studied the other two salespersons at her shop. The girl who had just graduated was very passionate but she lacked experience. The other one was better but she had her own set of issues. Shu Yan needed someone to watch the shop for the time being so she would have to do for now.
The new factory was about to launch and Shu Yan also needed to check out the two branch offices. She couldn’t possibly push them all off onto Hu Ruixue. The company belonged to the two of them; she needed to pull her own weight.
“Which city do you want to go to?” So far, they only had branch offices in City Yang and the capital. If they each visit one of them, that would save them a lot of time.
“I can take City Yang.” She had already been to the capital over new year but she hasn’t visited City Yang yet. She can sight see during her trip and achieve work-life balance.
This was her first trip to City Yang. When she met up with those who went to pick her up from the company, there was a familiar face among new faces. He was the head of the City Yang branch office. Shu Yan was the last person who interviewed him. Many had objected him because he had only graduated junior college but Shu Yan made an exception for him as she felt that he was a competent individual and should be not limited by his education.
As such, he had Shu Yan’s label ever since the day he started, much like the boss of capital city. Hu Ruixue was the one who hired him and he was labeled with Hu Ruixue. Even though that was neither Shu Yan nor Hu Ruixue’s intention, but the company slowly split into two large factions.
Naturally, they do not wish to have any factions among their company but there wasn’t much they could do. Shu Yan had talked with Hu Ruixue long and hard about it but failed to come up with any good solutions. Bottomline, it rested with the two of them. As long as they have a good relationship, it wouldn’t matter how many factions there were within the company.
Looking out into the street from the car, there were factories of different sizes. The closer they were to the city, the more high-rise structures there were, giving the city a somewhat futuristic urban look. City Yang was more developed and liberal than City Nan and the capital.
“Boss Shu, there is where our company is located.” Boss Yu sidestepped to make way for Shu Yan.
The office that they had rented located in the most well-known building in City Yang. Shu Yan looked up and followed Boss Yu to the 17th floor. There were four units per floor, belonging to four different companies. They didn’t need a very big office for their branch office. It was 200 square meter in size; a fairly big office in and of itself.
The employees at the office welcomed Shu Yan at the front and their eyes beamed when they saw Shu Yan. They had thought that Hu Ruixue was pretty when they saw her before; they hadn’t expected that the other boss was also very pretty.
Shu Yan had lost some more weight since the previous time and her skin another shade lighter. Hu Ruixue had taken her to a very, very expensive salon not too long ago for a hair cut and bought a lot of clothes. With her high heels and her authoritative aura, she stood there like a queen in front of everyone.
“Hi, Boss Shu,” said the employees simultaneously.
“Hi, everyone. I wasn’t able to come last time when our office launched so this was my first time meeting everyone. Let’s go to dinner after work today. My treat,” said Shu Yan with a smile.
“Thank you, Boss Shu.”
