Shu Yan wasn’t sure what to say about Yingying’s parents. She only found out that Yingying’s brother was scammed by his ex-girlfriend after Feng Zeyu had looked into them.
His girlfriend was gone, along with their 30,000 yuan. Most importantly, their reputation in the nearby area had been ruined, especially that of her brother. It would be quite difficult for him to try to find a girlfriend nearby.
After some hesitation, she decided to tell Yingying the truth.
Yingying remained silent for a long while before she put on a slight smile. “I told him in the past that the woman looked shady but he told me to mind my own business. Well, at least he is safe, even though they lost 30,000 yuan. I trust that he would have learned his lesson after this and straighten out from now on.”
Shu Yan really wanted to tell her that people like your brother would straighten out.
Yingying was still at work and it would not be good to chat with her for too long. Shu Yan went and walk around the nearby area by herself. Now that she was at City Yang, she needed to bring some souvenirs back with her.
Yingying did not bring up her family over lunch but talked about her own dreams with Shu Yan.
“I want to find a more remote location, start a small franchise shop, and grow it slowly.”
“You will be able to achieve that,” said Shu Yan with a smile.
Hu Ruixue had yet to be back to the office when Shu Yan returned to City Nan from City Yang. Shu Yan left the souvenirs with Manager Huang and went home.
“Mom!” The two children were very happy when Shu Yan was back.
She patted them on their heads and decided that she and Hu Ruixue needed to have a talk. Their company would continue to grow and the need for business trips would also go up, sometimes even overseas. A domestic trip would at most take a few days but overseas trips could take up to 2 weeks or even up to a month. Shu Yan did not want to miss her children growing up nor did she believe that Hu Ruixue could be away from Duoduo for too long.
She went over to Lin Hui’s with her two children and also gave Zhang-jie a set of souvenirs before she headed over to Wu Xiuyue’s place. Naturally, she would not be able to locate Wu Xiuyue at her house so she would have to go to her shop. When Shu Yan arrived, Wu Xiuyue was talking to a girl and the girl, her eyes reddened, looked to be wronged.
Seeing Shu Yan walking in, Wu Xiuyue immediately put on a smile. “What brough you here today?”
“I just got back from City Yang and brought you some souvenirs.” Shu Yan did not ask about the girl. “How’s Xiuxiu? Is she feeling better?”
“Oh, she is much better. I have been getting her pig feet, chicken, duck, fish, and meats. They really helped. Why did you head to City Yan out of the blue?” Wu Xiuyue took the gift from Shu Yan and placed them down. Then, she gave the girl standing to one side a stare and said, “Go bring some water over. Do I have to tell you everything?” She turned back and smiled at Shu Yan, “Welp, this is awkward. She is a relative of mine and her family is very poor. She didn’t do herself a favor by not doing well in school either so her family stopped letting her go to school after she had failed to get into senior high school. I figured I need to hire a salesperson anyway so I thought I could give her a try. She has graduated junior college. I don’t expect her to be a good salesperson but I figured she would at least help out with organizing the inventory and other odds and ends. Turns us she is clumsy and can’t do anything right.”
Wu Xiuyue griped to Shu Yan.
“She’s just 16 years old just graduating from junior college. That’s very young.” Shu Yan glanced over at the girl who was busying herself inside the shop. She resembled mung bean sprout and clothes didn’t look good on her. How would customers be enticed that way? Wu Xiuyue had ran her boutique down to just a regular woman’s clothing shop.
“What do you mean young? I was already helping my mother make clothes when I was 16. She’s so stupid. No wonder she couldn’t get into senior high school.”
Shu Yan felt that that was a bit much. She wanted to pick a young girl because she was cheap then she would also need to spend the time in training her. This was her first job and she was ignorant. Naturally, she would be shy around others. By scolding her instead of teaching her, the girl’s fear would only grow and her performance would get worse.
In the end of the day, that was someone else’s business and Shu Yan didn’t feel that it was her place to comment. “I have other matters to attend to so I am going to take off now. We will get together at another time.”
“Okay. Do come visit soon.” Wu Xiuyue walked Shu Yan out and saw the little girl bringing the water out when she turned around. She couldn’t help but frowned and said, “Why are you just bringing it out now? My guest had already left. I have never seen anyone as stupid as you before.”
