Mmm, okay, bye bye.” Shu Yan called up Hu Ruixue immediately after she hung up on the phone.
“Are you really not going to call up your mom and dad? I can tell that you mom is really worried about you.”
“No, I left for two reasons. One is for Duoduo and the other is to have them calm them.” She had tried to sit down and talk to them but they would not listen to her. They insisted that they only had her best interest in mind. She understood that but romance wasn’t something that could be forced.
“It’s been half a month. That’s long enough. Aunty had already called me up. They won’t force you anymore if you talk to them again.
Hu Ruixue finally returned with Duoduo after another week. Just as she had expected, her family stopped pushing for her to get married. Mother Lu had learned her lesson and decided to let Hu Ruixue do as she pleased.
She even turned down Ji Fansheng for Hu Ruixue and had him tone down on harassing Hu Ruixue at work.
“Finally some peace and quietness.” Hu Ruixue let out a sigh of relief. “You have no idea how awful Ji Fansheng was. Not only did he convince my dad and my mom, he also convinced my [paternal] grandmother, my [maternal] grandmother and grandfather, my aunt, my other aunt, and my cousin. They were all on his side. They made it sounded like it would be a sin if I am not with him and would regret for the rest of my life.”
She didn’t like him from the very beginning and the more people speaking for him, the more rebellious Hu Ruixue felt. She disliked how Ji Fansheng didn’t know when to stop.
“It’s good to have suitors. It’s a statement for your attraction. Shu Yan sat on the couch and looked at the report for this quarter. “Oh right, was it you or your brother who helped me with the matters regarding school transfer?”
“Attraction?” Hu Ruixue shook her head. “Most of the attraction comes from my family background. Meh, let’s not talk about him anymore. I had a friend helped me out with the school matter but my brother’s daughter also studies there and it required the signatures of three parents. So I used him as one of them.”
Asking someone else meant she would owe another favor. Her brother was available so no reason not to use him.
“What’s the matter? Did my brother say something?” Hu Ruixue recalled that her brother wanted to pursue Shu Yan. Did he use that to gain her fondness? She didn’t think so. She knew her brother. He might be a bit domineering but he was a proud person He would no pursue her when he knew that she was seeing something.
“No, he came over to the office the day after you took off and told me to take the kids to register for the school. He even asked me to take him out to lunch but I turned him down. I said we will go together when you are back. He left after that,” said Shu Yan with a light smile.
Hu Ruixue nodded. She had no intention of letting Shu Yan know of her brother’s interest in her.
“There’s something else that I want to talk to you about. I plan to open up a branch in City Xi. What’s your thoughts on that?” Hu Ruixue knew about Shu Yan’s situation and that she had been avoiding City Xi. Nevertheless, with their company’s current growth, they would need to have branches in all major cities and City Xi was a necessity.
“There’s nothing to talk about. I don’t own City Xi. I know how important it is to have a company in City Xi. Didn’t I already sign for it?” Shu Yan had found out about this a few days ago and signed for it. She had given it to Hu Ruixue’s assistant. All it needed now was Hu Ruixue’s signature.
“Cool. You won’t need to travel there in the future.” Hu Ruixue just wanted to make sure.
If Shu Yan insisted upon it, they could always pick a different city.
