Chapter 387: “Have dinner with me tomorrow?” (2)
“What’s important is that both the adult and child are healthy. No need to overthink it. Rest up in your first month. I didn’t have that opportunity after I gave birth to my first one. That was awful. I was able to make up for some of it after my second child. But that was in the countryside. For sure it was nothing like in the city.” The original owner’s body had a lot of issues from child birth. Shu Yan had gotten a lot of herbs from a traditional herbalist to improve her condition.
Shu Yan sat next to Zhang Huaxiu with the baby in her arms and taught her some tips on taking care of the baby. Most of them what she had heard of before in her own world. Zhang Huaxiu didn’t think much of it and asked her a lot of questions.
“How do I help the baby burp?”
“Let me show you.” She learned that from her cousin in the past and knew how to do that.
“Wait.” Zhang Huaxiu got Chen Fei too so he could learn with her.
Chen Fei was very focused and patted the baby in his arms. The baby let out a loud burp shortly. Chen Fei was a good one. He was as nice to Zhang Huaxiu after they had gotten married as before and was nice to the child. Zhang Huaxiu had truly found herself a good one.
Shu Yan was going to take off after a little more chatting but Mother Zhang insisted that she stayed for dinner.
“You came over so many times but never stayed for dinner. If you don’t stay for dinner today, we don’t want you back again.” Mother Zhang would not let Shu Yan leave.
After what Mother Zhang had said, Shu Yan had no choice but to stay for dinner. Mother Zhang even asked Shu Yan to have the two children over for dinner.
“That won’t be necessary. Aunty had already prepared dinner at home,” said Shu Yan with a smile.
Shu Yan chatted with Zhang Huaxiu when Mother Zhang cooked in the kitchen. They chatted all about kids.
The door bell rang and Chen Fei went to get the door. It was Zhang Huafeng and Wu Xiuyue coming in one after the other.
Shu Yan hadn’t seen Wu Xiuyue for over 6 months and she was startled when she saw her again today. Wu Xiuyue had dyed her hair yellow and permed it. She had white foundation on and her brows penciled, the somewhat thick kind. She also had on deep red lipsticks. She was wearing a shirt with a skirt, red panty hose and a coat that got down to her calves. She was a modern girl through and through now and was completely different than that simple-dressed girl she once was.
“Oh, Shu Yan is over? How come you didn’t tell me? I would have brought more food with me.” Wu Xiuyue, carrying fish and meats in her hand, chuckled when she saw Shu Yan.
“It’s fine. We have plenty to eat already. How come you got off so early today?”
“Oh, I hired another person so I can step away from time to time,” said Wu Xiuyue as she put down her purse. She sat down next to Shu Yan and Shu Yan could smell the strong scent of the cheap perfume.
Shu Yan rubbed her itchy nose and chuckled. “You have become so modern in just a few months. I wouldn’t even have recognized you in the streets.”
“IS that so?” Wu Xiuyue brushed her hair back and smiled. “You know. I’m in the clothing business. It’s important that I dress up more modernly.”
Shu Yan was speechless. She was in the clothing business as was Zhang Huaxiu. They didn’t dress up like that. It was difficult for a normal person to pull off a celebrity’s outfit. And, even celebrities wouldn’t dress like this normally.
Dinner wasn’t ready yet so the two started chatting. Wu Xiuyue also had bright red nail polish on. Stroking her nails, she said, “How’s your company coming along? How’s business?”
“Oh, it does alright.” Shu Yan never told Wu Xiuyue what kind of a company she had. As such, Wu Xiuyue didn’t know about the situation with Shu Yan’s company. She took Shu Yan’s humility literally.
