Li Jiaojiao let out a scream and closed her eyes. She never felt the pain so, biting on her lip, she carefully opened up her eyes to look at Ye Zhiqiang. She saw him looking at her with a pained look.
“I let my ex-wife take everything for you, mocked by everyone back home, moved to Province Xin, a brand-new place, to start all over again. I worked hard to make money so that you won’t have to suffer. And then what? You are paying for a boy toy behind my back with my money.” Ye Zhiqiang’s eyes reddened toward the end.
“No, it is not what it seems, Brother Qiang. Let me explain.” Li Jiaojiao, too, panicked. She did find this wealthy young man who had been fawning over her attractive, but she really wasn’t going to cheat on Ye Zhiqiang.
She knew that her body had been ruined and it was a big et if she’ll manage to have children in the future. She had no future with this wealthy young man. It did not benefit her to leave Ye Zhiqiang.
“Let’s get a divorce.”
“What did you just say?” Li Jiaojiao looked at Ye Zhiqiang in disbelief. “Brother Qiang, we are really just having dinner. There is nothing going on between us. I don’t want to get a divorce.” Divorce? Her reputation was ruined in her hometown as was her body. How would she be able to remarry?
“Have dinner at a hotel?” Ye Zhiqiang looked at Li Jiaojiao with pain in his eyes. “We have been a couple, after all. I don’t want things to get worse that they already are. Let’s just split up amicably.”
“I……” Li Jiaojiao looked around and was speechless.
She was reluctant to come to dinner at a hotel, but the wealthy young man insisted and wooed her. Mainly there was another friend there and it was a friend that Li Jiaojiao had met at Province Xin. She was reassured that it would be okay after hearing her voice.
No matter how much Li Jiaojiao cried and pleaded, Ye Zhiqiang was very firm on getting a divorce.

That being said, she did not mention having Ye Zhiqiang retain some of the money as well. With her current reputation and body, she would need money to survive.
She had been keeping a private stash in the past two years. That, on top of what they had in the savings account, would add up to around 100,000 yuan. She could take the money, return to her hometown, and buy a house. She could then look for someone older to remarry and things wouldn’t be much worse than they were right now.
When she was in bed that night, Li Jiaojiao thought about the incident some more, and more and more things didn’t add up. How did Ye Zhiqiang know that she was at that hotel? More importantly, why did the wealthy young man insist on having dinner over at the hotel? Her friend was right next to him over the call, but she was not there when Li Jiaojiao got there. When things were at the most suggestive moment, Ye Zhiqiang showed up. Li Jiaojiao recalled that Ye Zhiqiang’s men only hit the wealthy young man a few times and dragged him out of the room.
A normal man would want to kill the man in front of his wife, not thinking about a divorce. She recalled how she was caught red-handed by Shu Yan when she was cheating with Ye Zhiqiang, which had subsequently led to her reputation being ruined. All the dots connected now. She had been with Ye Zhiqiang for a while now and Li Jiaojiao thought she knew him well enough. He was a bit on the selfish side and that nobody was as important as himself. She just didn’t think he could be that vicious.
