Li Jiaojiao was almost certain that she was set up by Ye Zhiqiang. But now that she had already signed the divorce papers, there was nothing else that she could do to Ye Zhiqiang.
The next day, Li Jiaojiao packed up to leave their house. She declined Ye Zhiqiang’s offer to drop her off. She took a car to the train station and stored her stuff there before returning to the city.
It didn’t take a lot of asking around to find out that Ye Zhiqiang’s lover was pregnant. Hatred flashed passed Li Jiaojiao’s eyes.
How did she lose her child? Because she had over-exhausted herself following him around. Now that she could no longer have children, he straight up had children with another woman? And set her up on top of that?
If she couldn’t have children, why should other women? Li Jiaojiao narrowed her eyes. Ye Zhiqiang had made a lot of connections after moving there, including some local hooligans. Unlike Shu Yan, Li Jiaojiao could entertain, so Ye Zhiqiang had brought her with him to many dinner events. As such, little Juejue, too, had some connections.
They may say that they were brothers with Ye Zhiqiang but, in the end, it was all about the money. They didn’t try to turn Li Jiaojiao down when she talked to them.
“I don’t want money,” said the boss as he smiled suggestively at Li Jiaojiao. “I want you.”
Li Jiaojiao wasn’t as pretty as she used to be but, with some make up and dressing up nicely, she was still quite attractive. Women like her were rare around Province Xin and the boss had been itching since the first time he saw her.
“Then I must restate my request.” Li Jiaojiao approached the boss seductively and whispered into his ear. “I want Ye Zhiqiang handicapped. And I don’t mean his arms or his legs. I want him incapable.”
The boss looked at Li Jiaojiao in surprise. He didn’t think a delicate woman like her would say such a vicious thing. But that only made him like her more.
Three days later, Xueli was hit by a car in an accident when she was out shopping. She was saved but lost her child.
A month later, Ye Zhiqiang married his former partner’s wife. Three days after the wedding, he was beaten up on his way to a construction site. He had no other serious wounds other than being stabbed you know where and would not be able to perform again.
“Are you happy now?” asked the boss as he gave Li Jiaojiao a kiss.
“Yes, very much so.”
“Then don’t go. Stay and be with me.”
Li Jiaojiao smiled and didn’t say anything. She packed her stuff and took off the next day before daybreak.
She returned to City Xi but couldn’t return to her village. She had no choice but to stay in the city. She would not be able to get a government job, but it would not be difficult for her to get a job with her qualifications.
She had a former coworker who worked at a government-operated shopping center. Boy, was that a good job. As such, when she saw a shopping center hiring, she took the position immediately. Little did she know that in a privately-owned shopping center was entirely different from that of a government-operated one. Nevertheless, the pay was good so Li Jiaojiao decided to keep the job for the time being.
Two customers came today and Li Jiaojiao recognized one of them as the wife of her former boss right away.
Li Jiaojiao was the beauty queen at the plant and there were as many women who hated her as the number of men who liked her, including the boss’s wife.
“Hey! Isn’t this the beauty queen of our plant? I’ve heard that you have married rich. How come you are selling clothes here?”
Li Jiaojiao smiled, “Are you here to buy clothes?” Implying that she should shut up if she wasn’t going to buy anything.
“Is that how you treat your customers here?”
The shop owner heard the ruckus, came over, apologized to the chubby lady, and had Li Jiaojiao fetch her some tea. The chubby lady purposefully bumped into Li Jiaojiao and made water spilt on her shoe.
Li Jiaojiao reacted very quickly and there was barely any water on her shoe, but that did not stop her from picking on Li Jiaojiao.
“Is this your service here? I am going to file a complaint. This is a brand name shop. How did you hire someone so clumsy?”
Li Jiaojiao apologized to her, feeling aggrieved, before she squatted down to wipe the water off her shoes.
When she stood up, she saw someone looking at her from across. It was a pretty and poised woman and she looked to be very wealthy. Li Jiaojiao felt upset and embarrassed immediately. She must look like a job to someone who was born and raised in a rich family.
