Chapter 1002 - Does She Hate My Company?
Wen Zac welcomed Ming Rusheng and Lu Lian. It was the first time when Lu Lian attended such a corporate party.
Being away from her home country, not so many people knew about Lu Lian, except for those who knew the Lu Family for long. Even if others saw her, they remember only the young Lu Lian from her school days.
When the two entered the party hall, Lu Lijun noticed his sister and then the man with her. Before he could even show the displeased expression on his face, someone spoke.
"Sister Lian and Mr. Ming look good together," Noah spoke.
"She is my sister. Anyone would look good with her," came the reply from a cold guy who was already pissed with few other things.
"I know you are a narcissist," Noah countered, and Lu Lijun didn't deny it.
Ming Rusheng greeted Lu Jinhai and others present there, and Lu Lian did the same.
"Lu Lian, good to see you here," Mr. Wen spoke.
"Good to see you too," she said, feeling puzzled about what to call him. She knew Mr. Wen as one of her father's good friends.
Mr. Wen understood her hesitation, "You can call me uncle, just like before. My friend's daughter is like my daughter."
Mr. Wen looked happy to see her and his words were genuine. Lu Lian looked at her father as if asking him for permission, and he nodded.
Lu Lian looked at Mr. Wen, "Thank you, uncle Wen."
Mr. Wen turned to Ming Rusheng, "It would have been great if your father was here."
"He is out of the city," Ming Rusheng replied.
"I saw the planned model, and I must say, you have done a great job as usual," Mr. Wen praised and looked at Lu Jinhai, who added, "I agree with this."
"My team worked hard," Ming Rusheng spoke and looked at Lu Lian, "Ms. Lu has done an incredible job."
Lu Lian felt awkward with this sudden praise from this cold guy. If it were not for the sake of the project they had done together, she would have never come there with him.
Pulling out a pleasant smile, she spoke, "Mr. Ming helped me a lot."
"In the future, too, we expect such good work from both of you," Mr. Wen added.
Lu Lian saw Lu Lijun standing with his friends and excused herself.
Just as she left, Mr. Wen spoke, "Little Lian turned into one fine lady."
Lu Jinhai nodded, "I'm proud of her."
Hearing it, Ming Rusheng subconsciously looked at Lu Lian, who looked like a free bird after seeing her brother, as if she was in the cage before.
'Does she hate my company?' he thought.
Just as Lu Lian reached the three, Lu Lijun asked, "Already bored?"
"You are lucky to have your friends here, but I feel like I'm stuck with strangers," Lu Lian complained.
"Mr. Ming doesn't seem like a stranger, though," Noah teased.
Lu Lian glared at him, "Seems like you don't wish to live longer, Noah."
Noah realized he just angered the lady, "Cough, I mean, he seems good."
"What's so good about him?" Lu Lijun and Lu Lian spoke together, and Noah looked at them both in surprise.
"Like brother, like sister," Noah teased, smiling lightly.
Lu Lian avoided talking further while Lu Lijun spoke, "Don't talk about him."
Noah stared at Lu Lijun for a moment, "Why are you so bitter today?"
"I'm always like this," Lu Lijun replied as his sight passed Jiang Yuyan, who sat around the circular table as Xiao Min accompanied her, but in between, someone would come and talk to her.
Jake, who finally got free from a few people who were curious to talk to him, was aware of it and didn't wish Noah to trouble Lu Lijun more, though Noah knew what's happening with Lu Lijun.
"Let's have a seat."
Lu Lijun had to sit with his father and Jiang Yuyan while Jake and Noah were together.
Jake was Jiang Yuyan's guest that Wen Zac was aware of to invite him as per Jiang Yuyan wanted. Being Lu Corporations guest, Noah had to accompany him. Though the three were friends, there were specific unspoken rules in such parties.
Jiang Yuyan brought Lu Lijun with her to make everyone aware of his presence and indicate that he would soon take charge of Lu Corporation.
Lu Lian had to sit with Ming Rusheng though she wished to be her brother and not with this cold guy.
Just then, the party's main part started where Wen Zac was on the stage as host and welcomed everyone.
After his short speech about the project by showing the 3D model on the massive screen on the stage wall, Wen Zac explained everything about it and why it was unique.
There was a loud clapping after that small presentation. After that, he called representatives of all the companies which participated in it.
From Mings, Ming Rushen went on the stage, From Wens Wen Zan was already there, Jiang Yuyan from Lu Corporations and there were few other companies.
When Jiang Yuyan went on the stage, and once the clapping sound stopped, she went to Wen Zac, who stood behind the dais.
"Can I get it for a moment," she asked, and Wen Zac understood what she meant.
Wen Zac stepped aside, and Jiang Yuyan stood behind the dais to talk. Everyone was curious to know what she would say, and the whole place turned silent.
Greeting everyone, Jiang Yuyan spoke, "Though I'm the one handling this project from Lu Corporation, it's just for the namesake. The person who actually worked on it dedicatedly in my absence and took charge is someone else."
With these words, most of the people understood who Jiang Yuyan was talking about.
The ones close to Lu Lijun felt happy for him, while Lu Lijun didn't want it. He felt like being in a sudden spotlight and getting too much attention that he didn't like.
When Lu Lijun felt like leaving the place, Jiang Yuyan looked at him as he looked back at her; their sights met.
